Regarding Catholics reading NIV, I agree it's a shame. What is worse, NAB is read in the Liturgy, that is an outright scandal. The Bishops of your Church have collectively chosen the NAB. Is it possible you are right and they are in error?

The Bishops of your Church have collectively chosen the NAB Hopefully, not for long. The trend in the Church is for better English in the Liturgy. They probably chose the NAB not for any doctrinal reason, but because it lends itself best to oral delivery.
