I have to agree with annalex on this subject. When responding to a post with a long "To:" list I consider it good practice to copy the entire list without selective editing.
As far as I can see annalex is making a good faith effort to avoid addressing posts to, or responding directly to caww, that is all that can be expected.
annalex has no Ping List and cannot reasonably be expected to edit out individuals contained on the "To:" line in all posts.
Well then this creates a situation I will have to find solution for myself if that's the case.
Now the To: in your psot here has addressed others, yet here in my reply to it shows only OLD REGGIE. So Metmom if you are pinged to this please let me know, as it "looks" to go to just OR.
Annalex could just create a ping list like the rest of us do.
I take names out of group pings that I don’t want in them. I do it regularly and it takes seconds. Annalex has easily demonstrated the mental facilities to manage a task like that.
Making it my responsibility that caww is getting pinged to annalex’s posts by annalex is blame shifting and just plain silly.
Every ping list I manage is arranged in alphabetical order to avoid duplicates. When I got the homeschool ping lists, there were a number of duplicate names because of them not being organized. I was able to trim the list size by alphabetizing them and have made that my policy since then.
Thank you.
For the record, when I see a post to which I wish to respond, I take the visible part of the “To:” list (if it is too long, the trailing end of it is replaced by a row of dots). I then paste that list following the name of the author of the post and a semicolon. I do so because I assume that the author of the post would want the people he pinged to read the response as well as his initial post.
I can pick out a person or two but I cannot guarantee that I always remember who asked me what.
The matter gets more complicated when, as now, significant time intervenes between the post and my response. I read posts when I have time to respond and not before. So if one got himself on the “To:” line, and several posts down, he asks me to remove him, I will not see that request at the time I respond to the post.
I ask anyone who has special requests that need to be handled out-of-sequence to use e-mail.
