FReep Alert: Catholics & Pro-Lifers - the USCCB about proposed new Pres. Bishop Gerald Kicanas

   USCCB

TOPICS: Activism; Catholic; Current Events; Moral Issues
KEYWORDS: catholic; prolife; usccb
Bishop Kicanis did not support the prolife effort of the Bishops to urge Catholics to vote pro-life against Obama in the 2008 election.

Additionally, he did not support the Catholic Bishops who spoke out against Obama's appearance at Notre Dame.

This is not a Bishop who will serve the pro-life agenda of the Catholic and Christian Churches.

I will post the links for calling and mailing the Bishops in the next post.

Please FReep them to your heart's content.

The Catholic Church and the country would be better off without a USCCB.

"The Catholic Church and the country would be better off without a USCCB."

I am told that the USCCB consists largely of non-bishops and even non-clergy. Its meetings are often held and decrees decided by laymen and priests who represent the bishops. In any case, most American bishops are disgracefully liberal. Liberalism, and the desire to be more "protestant-like" have all but destroyed the Catholic Church. If it's not a traditional Latin Tridentine Catholic Mass you probably won't find me there anyway.

Compared to, say, the US Congress, the Church has a rigid bureaucracy. If this election has been scheduled to be accomplished this week. There is no way we can stop it. Perhaps the protests would be useful just as protests.

Thank you, Salvation, for posting this thread which is intended to make Catholic freepers aware of the upcoming election of a new president to head the USCCB. Please contact your bishops and ask them NOT to vote for Kincanas.

FYI:LINK

Dolan is a surprise pick to head USSB.

NYTimes laments:The bishops passed over their vice president, Bishop Gerald Kicanas of Tucson, who represents the more liberal “social justice” tradition of the American church and is known for advocating dialogue between Catholic liberals and traditionalists. Archbishop Dolan is a moderate conservative who is willing to put his affable and outgoing demeanor in service of a more assertively confrontational approach to the church’s critics.

I told you praying to Mary would work.

:-)
