Siena, Italy is a beautiful city, built on a hilly area. The stone streets are quite wide as Siena was a textile producing town. In St. Catherine’s time hundreds of carts rolled through the streets daily carrying goods for export to other areas.

My brother and I stayed in a convent there owned by a cloistered nun order. They rent out rooms to help with expenses. We were instructed not to speak to the sisters if we came upon one. We would see them flitting here and about, but they managed to avoid any contact with us. The room was spartan, but accented in rich, dark wood.

I hope I get back there.

Yes it is. I have been there. The cathedral in Siena is breathtakingly beautiful.
