The NIV is a very well documented corrupt version of the KJV.

As someone who knew one of the NIV OT translators when I was in college, I say this is baloney.

Bingo!

Luke 18:14 ...for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased.

You have correctly identified the Catholic church and Pope in their pride and self exaltment!

Thanks, I appreciate that. Religion threads should be controversial, not just blindly following what some internet scholar says. That’s how cults get started. Everything should be tested.

From my home page:
Now from time to time I will call someone a “bigot.” This isn’t a personal attack but rather a description of behavior. Here is the definition: “A bigot is a person obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices. The correct use of the term requires the elements of intolerance, irrationality, and animosity toward those of differing beliefs.”

and:

Know Nothings. This is a term to describe a type of Freeper that will post any anti-Catholic article or web site they can. Their virulent hatred of all things Catholic is nauseating. Plus they are consistent in their hatred. This is the original part of my home page on this topic:

For the anti-Catholics out there I find an almost universal ignorance of the role of the Virgin Mary, prayer, tradition, mass, saints, the role of confession and communion, and the role of the church. Often you are fed misinformation by petty twisted people filled with hatred. Please access the Catechism of the Catholic Church and educate yourself. If you don’t agree with what you read, fine. You don’t find it in your heart to do so. But regardless, it speaks poorly of you to denigrate another’s faith. I wouldn’t do it to someone who is of a Protestant denomination.

Whoever weakens faith in Jesus hurts themselves by hurting others. Plus it is just plain bad manners. But I have seen plenty of that from the Catholic bashers here. Over time it seems to be the same characters doing it too. They post attack posts on Catholics and their comments are exceedingly vile. I can excuse lack of knowledge but these same posters have been corrected over and over again. Therefore, they lie. They are not honest people. They are not good people. They do these things with hatred in their hearts. There is nothing Christian in their acts and you know there is no love or goodness in their souls. Pity them but brand them for what they are.

Should Christ himself come back and reveal himself, and declare the Catholic Church he founded on earth is his one true church, they would be the first to nail him to the cross again in fury. Pray they let the hatred for Christ and his Church go and they find Christ’s love before it is too late. I will never try and turn a protestant away from Christ or his way of believing even if I think it is lacking in the fullness intended by Christ. I will explain my beliefs and then leave it up to that person.

From what I have seen on your thread here and your comment on thirty years experience I fall back on the old expression: “There are people here with thirty years experience, and there are people with one year thirty times.”

I sent that privately to one person on this thread commenting on your absolute hubris. Something so anti-Christian it is breathtaking. But, your bold statement here is a flat out lie. So I thought to make it public.

The NIV is not based on the Translations from original Greek, but the Roman Catholic approved translations.

NIV is corrupted.

Can you please explain what the Catholic Church or the Pope has to do with anything I posted?

And based on your email to me, are you accusing me of saying that you are not saved because I’m Catholic and your not?

The NIV is an evangelical Protestant product with many inaccuracies, and some instances of plain old eisegetical "make the Bible mean what I want". Don't blame us Catholics for it; we had nothing to do with it.

sure...and these are examples of infallible Biblical exegesis:

prayers for the dead - Tobit 12:12; 2 Maccabees 12:39-45
purgatory - Wisdom 3:1-7
intercession of saints in heaven - 2 Maccabees 15L14
intercession of angels - Tobit 12:12-15

Those books are NON-Biblical and NOT from GOD!

Jesus Christ was the most divided Man to ever walk the face of the earth. He Himself claimed, “I came not to bring peace, but a sword.” Those who refuse to expose error and simply overlook it, are not following the biblical admontion to love. The prophets of old were persecuted, John the Baptist was beheaded, and most of the disciples gave their lives for Christ. Why? Because they were divisive! Biblical Christianity is confrontational and offensive! Most are not preaching it!

The NIV is based upon the Catholic "Latin Vulgate" and not the original greek writings of the apostles, and was funded and arranged AFTER the KJV to counter it.

Seems to me there are much graver things for you to be defending the catholic church against such as the deletion of the book of revelations. Who could blame you, though, it clearly warns against the "Whore that sits on mnay waters, decked in purple and scarlet, and holding a golden cup full of abomination"

Huh, funny. Those books were in the Holy Scripture Jesus Christ used (and often quoted from according to the New Testament authors). That’s not opinion or religious conviction, it is simply historical fact.

Perhaps what you consider “NON-Biblical” is simply Satanic deception...in fact I am quite sure it is.

Jesus’ ministry also had a strong opposition to the denominational divisions of the time- man’s ‘churchanity’ being more important than his relationship with God. A good freeper once said: “A living, breathing relationship with the risen Christ that cannot be found in creed, religion, catechism, or baptism.”

That church you linked to seem to be all about ‘creed, religion, catechism, and baptism’ and not at all about a living, breathing relationship with Christ. It has one mention of salvation on its site that I could find, an even that mention buried the relationship with Christ below a specific type of baptism they believe you must have to be saved.

I find it too often that those whose mission is to expose error with other denominations do so at the sacrifice of promoting the relationship with Christ. They have the Pharisee’s error that Christ railed against, sacrificing the relationship with God with the legality of paper.

Da ya go! You bear witness to the fact that true biblical Baptist have always been persecuted. They crucified our Lord, took off John the Baptist head, and murdered the other disciples as well. Why? Because they preached against your religious dogma and twisted interpretation of Scripture. Like your forefathers, “you do always resist the Holy Ghost.”

Another term Jesus used for the devil was that he ( Jesus ) saw the devil as lighting falling down from heaven, and add that to the morning star, it would sound like a comet, asteroid, or some kind of falling object from space.
He was cast down out of heaven to earth before man kind was created.
Barrack is translated Lighting.

"Should Christ himself come back and reveal himself, and declare the Catholic Church he founded on earth is his one true church"

To quote another accurate observer:

Christ would have to deny Himself to do such a thing. He could never proclaim that which is cleary contrary to written Scripture to be truth. To the contrary, this would be something the Anti-christ would do. He's will be a master at distorting the truth. Just like the teachings of Catholicism -- twisted and wrestling of the Scriptures.

Even Peter warned that those who wrest the Scriptures by not understanding the Apostle Paul as these do twist and wrest all the Scriptures.

For example: the Catholic Apocrypha NT books are NOT from Christ the Word of God, but the Catholics us it to twist:

prayers for the dead - Tobit 12:12; 2 Maccabees 12:39-45

purgatory - Wisdom 3:1-7

intercession of saints in heaven - 2 Maccabees 15L14

intercession of angels - Tobit 12:12-15

book of Revelation chapter 12 "woman closed"...is NOT Mary; it is Israel bring forth Messiah.

I’ll hold on to the Bible instead of church tradition. I understand when standing before God, His Word will be my Judge. I find great comfort and peace in that. I speak with Christ everyday and He speaks with me. He has given me peace, joy, eternal life, and the Holy Ghost. He has met my every need and His Spirit bears witness with my Spirit each moment of each day. Like Paul, “I know in Whom I have believed.” What I have is much more than some dead religon — I have “life and life more abundant.” I have victory and am “an overcomer in Christ.” I understand what John means when he says, “greater is He that is within me, than he that is in the world.” Religion is of the world, invented by Satan who “comes as an angel of light.” Only Truth can set a man free, “for whom the Son sets free is free indeed.” I have experienced and maintained that freedom for thirty years! I’ll hold on to what I have until the end thank you. You can have your religion!

Da ya go displaying your ignorance over the biblical use of the word “wine.” Justify your drunkeness via Jesus and the wedding! No, Jesus never drank strong drink and He didn’t create 150 gallons of rotten juice to throw a drunken party. Jesus Christ never created anything tainted, and fermented juice is tainted. What He created was good and pure — not purtrid and corrupt! It’s down right blasphemous to suggest such a thing.

In context.

This whole section in Isaiah 14 is a taunt at the King of Babylon.(also King of Assyria)Words can mean different things in different contexts.

This is one of those prophesies that is of differing theological beliefs and yours is not one of them.

Those kings of nations he has already conquered are taunting him as he has arrived in hell.

(Is it the king of Babylon or Satan?)
I believe they are taunting the king as Satan and taunting his own belief that he was a bright morning star.
