Our Blessed Mother has been on my mind alot lately. I’ve tried to imagine what Her life was like. An angel tells Her that She’s pregnant, but She’s never been with a man. In those days, being pregnant and not married was more than just frowned upon. She trusted God.

I can’t imagine my son being tortured and murdered as Jesus was. Even after witnessing that and the incredible pain and heartache a mother would have to endure....She trusted God.

This really brings Her trust and Her pain out in the open:

I’m in the 2nd year (of 4) of a Biblical Studies put on by our diocese. This Biblical Institute has spread to several dioceses, and presents the current ‘literary analysis’ approach in vogue with scholars. This is similar to what is taught in seminaries.

The majority belief is that this was an ancient hymn compiled by the writer/evangelist.

On one hand, I can see the good in this type of analysis (reading the Gospels with the intent of the author in mind, eg Luke wrote to Hellenistic Jews), but on the other hand, it really waters down the reality of the Bible. I know the mainstream opinion, but I still believe that Mary uttered these words...

I feel sorry for our seminarians who go through these types of courses in most seminaries.

I always think about John having Mary live with him after the Death, Resurrection and Ascension of Christ.

And then I wonder how much she told him and the other apostles/disciples.

I agree with you on the watered down versions of some training......but seminarians always have access to further study with other theologians. (If that is their bent, of course.)
