I am not Catholic, but my recently deceased friend, Fr. John Lawlor was teaching at a seminary in China when the Korean War broke out in 1950
His Seminarians were ordered at gun-point to join the Chinese army and Fr. Lawlor was jailed for the duration of the war.
He did not think any of his students would have survived as “they were men of God, and knew nothing of soldiering” according to Father Lawlor.
May that good man rest in peace.

I cry for those Seminarians and missionaries who sacrificed their lives for justice and freedom in China. I wish Chinese people would know all these stories, appreciate all these sacrifices, and also follow the steps so as to make themselves worthwhile to save.
