I have never witnessed such a blatant, systematic attempt to undermine the Catholic Church as the one I am writing about today.

No moe blatant, and no more astroturfy than "Catholics for a Free Choice"

I can't comment on that since I'm not familiar with that org. The few protestant denominations that still hold biblical positions on issues such as abortion and homosexual practices are also under attack from similar so-called "Christian" orgs, including the rapidly growing "emerging church" and other false Christian groups who incorporate eastern mysticism into their "worship" services. The emerging church is not so much attacking authentic Christianity as it is undermining it with non-Christian worship practices while attempting to appear more "spiritual" than other Christians.

The Church and it's biblical standards of morality is being attacked today from practically all corners of government and society in general, both in the U.S. and western Europe. Western Europe seems to be a lost cause, with only a very small % of Europeans now practicing Christianity or even identifying themselves with any segment of the Church. The 3rd world is where Christianity is thriving today, Africa in particular, and that's in the face of often violent persecution by Islam and other pagan religions. Not surprising since persecution by pagans was the hallmark of early Christianity, and those were the centuries in which the Church experienced it's most rapid growth.
