IMO, Babylon is a metaphor for every belief outside of Christ. In Christ, there is salavation, outside of Christ you find the Anti-Christ Babylonian beliefs.
The two witnesses of Revelation are the Church, and we are seeing the two witnesses being killed and the world is rejoicing as the Church is finally overcome with a great falling away, sin, scandal and leaving her first love. The testimony is almost gone and Babylon is rejoicing. Jesus must be coming soon!

I take a literal approach when reading those passages. I believe the actual city of Babylon will become a huge center of commerce and every evil that can be imagined. When this occurs I have no idea.

It seems like it in the west, but the house churches are growing in China and throughout the 10/40 window. There is now a Christian radio station broadcasting in northern Iraq. Also, the level of violence against Christians is pretty bad throughout the 10/40 window, which I believe indicates the enemy is worried. So maybe Jesus isn't coming as soon as we think.
Well than the whole world is basically Babylon from your perspective. But of course Babylon will be and indeed is a place. As for the Witnesses....They also are actual people, though it seems you enjoy spiritualising the events and places. I say caution in doing so...as even the cults are doing that.
No matter ones perspective the scripture Babylon will be industrious and wealthy beyond measure...sure makes sense to me a one world mega place of commerce could fit there nicely...and they sure have the means to pay for it.
