Can they drink Kahlua?

Not if it's HOT or STRONG.

THE
DOCTRINE AND COVENANTS
OF THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS
SECTION 89

Revelation given through Joseph Smith the Prophet, at Kirtland, Ohio, February 27, 1833. HC 1: 327–329. As a consequence of the early brethren using tobacco in their meetings, the Prophet was led to ponder upon the matter; consequently he inquired of the Lord concerning it. This revelation, known as the Word of Wisdom, was the result. The first three verses were originally written as an inspired introduction and description by the Prophet.

1–9, Use of wine, strong drinks, tobacco, and hot drinks proscribed; 10–17, Herbs, fruits, flesh, and grain are ordained for the use of man and of animals; 18–21, Obedience to gospel law, including the Word of Wisdom, brings temporal and spiritual blessings.

1 A aWord OF Wisdom, for the benefit of the council of high priests, assembled in Kirtland, and the church, and also the saints in Zion—
2 To be sent greeting; not by commandment or constraint, but by revelation and the aword of wisdom, showing forth the order and bwill of God in the temporal salvation of all saints in the last days—
3 Given for a principle with apromise, adapted to the capacity of the bweak and the weakest of all csaints, who are or can be called saints.
4 Behold, verily, thus saith the Lord unto you: In consequence of aevils and designs which do and will exist in the hearts of bconspiring men in the last days, I have cwarned you, and forewarn you, by giving unto you this word of wisdom by revelation—
5 That inasmuch as any man adrinketh bwine or strong drink among you, behold it is not good, neither meet in the sight of your Father, only in assembling yourselves together to offer up your sacraments before him.
6 And, behold, this should be wine, yea, apure wine of the grape of the vine, of your own make.
7 And, again, astrong drinks are not for the belly, but for the washing of your bodies.
8 And again, tobacco is not for the abody, neither for the belly, and is not good for man, but is an herb for bruises and all sick cattle, to be used with judgment and skill.
9 And again, hot drinks are not for the body or belly.
10 And again, verily I say unto you, all wholesome aherbs God hath ordained for the constitution, nature, and use of man—
11 Every herb in the season thereof, and every fruit in the season thereof; all these to be used with aprudence and bthanksgiving.
  12 Yea, aflesh also of bbeasts and of the fowls of the air, I, the Lord, have ordained for the use of man with thanksgiving; nevertheless they are to be used csparingly;
13 And it is pleasing unto me that they should not be aused, only in times of winter, or of cold, or bfamine.
  14 All agrain is ordained for the use of man and of beasts, to be the staff of life, not only for man but for the beasts of the field, and the fowls of heaven, and all wild animals that run or creep on the earth;
15 And athese hath God made for the use of man only in times of famine and excess of hunger.
16 All grain is good for the afood of man; as also the bfruit of the vine; that which yieldeth fruit, whether in the ground or above the ground—
17 Nevertheless, wheat for man, and corn for the ox, and oats for the horse, and rye for the fowls and for swine, and for all beasts of the field, and barley for all useful animals, and for mild drinks, as also other grain.
  18 And all saints who remember to keep and do these sayings, walking in obedience to the commandments, ashall receive bhealth in their navel and marrow to their bones;
  19 And shall afind bwisdom and great ctreasures of dknowledge, even hidden treasures;
20 And shall arun and not be bweary, and shall walk and not faint.
21 And I, the Lord, give unto them a promise, that the adestroying angel shall bpass by them, as the children of Israel, and not slay them. Amen.

The “ancient Israelites” got to America from the Mideast in cork submarines before Jesus appeared in North America after the Ascension. According to the Book of Mormon Jesus came to America and ministered to white people and there were no Indians anywhere to be seen.

“When you have the opportunity to go to the temple to participate in the temple ceremonies or to witness a sealing, remember where you are. You are a guest in the house of the Lord. You should groom yourself and clothe yourself in such a way that you would feel comfortable should your Host appear,” the senior apostle wrote.

Depends on if they look like the girls on the beach at Ipanema or else if they look like the inner city Atlanta 5th generation welfare recipients. In the first case, a single strand of floss is called for; in the second, an equivalent to the burqua is more than appropriate...

You’re always welcome here. Ask Elsie, he showed up one day.

Did you ever get rid of him? :)

Jewish men seem to have more facial hair than Native American men, especially beards. Plus, Native American religion is entirely different from Judaism.

"Nothing against it but I don’t want to go where I’m not welcome."

Oh, they could make you "welcome". Just convert, follow all the rules, pay, and after a year, you get your interview and voila! You're in. JK!

The reception can be held wherever you want, they don't allow anyone to "celebrate" on the temple grounds.

Hold the reception at your local K of C, Moose, Elks Lodge, etc.

;^) Not at an LdS church bldg.

Our wedding was held at a ward bldg. with the reception in the “cultural hall”. Folks snuck booze in, that didn’t go over well at all. Eventually we went to a local joint and let our hair down a bit.

Hey! Thanks for taking that prejudicial statement out of your post. Oh, wait. You didn’t. Never mind.

In direct contradiction to your claims that you’re open to “honest” investigation of both sides. No matter how carefully parsed the comments/statements are, the language/words used in your posts creates a prejudicial atmosphere.

Instead of using more accurate terms or words like “church critic”, the word “anti-” is used as it relates to the mormons as a people, “anti-mormon”. That it is a personal prejudice. To draw parallels to many “anti-” [such as anti-semitism] pogroms from the past and currently.

It’s an incendiary word that is already loaded with negative connotations that arouses in people a reflexive response that is neither necessary or relevant, almost feral in nature.

To elicit a sympathy response from an outsider who may or may not understand what has actually been said in previous discussions, only reflexive outrage.

“Propaganda” falls into the same category.

How’s them works coming along? Earned enough points to guarantee that you’ll qualify for one of the kingdoms?

Sometimes it is claimed that these sites present a needle in a haystack...But if you give up before you try you won't know will you?

(Oh, sure. Let's all play "fill-the-milk-in-the-glass Mormon scavenger hunt!")

"How do you play," you ask?

Well first, you follow a PD link to locate a hospitable Mormon dairy farmer...
...Then driving to that dairy farm in the middle of a Midwest winter...
...Arriving @ 4 a.m...
...You have "free agency" to either hand-milk -- or, with a few of PD's links, robotically milk (harvest) all the cows...[doesn't matter to PD which you do...he may prefer the impersonal "bot" style because it comes "natural" to him]...
...Merge the milk into one storage container...
...Transport the milk...
...Conduct lab testing of the milk...[of course, with such Mormon "milk" if the "King James Version" of the lab report doesn't cut the mustard, the local Mormon head hauncho just writes a "Joe Blow Translation" (JBT) of it to give it the official spin]
...Pump the milk into storage silos...
...Pasteurize it...
...Homogenize it...
...Have it undergo further processing (micro-filtration)...
...And then consume it...
...Digest it to see if it produces the magical "burning bosom" effect...
...And then see if LONG term it produces one of those forced testimonies you might hear at a Mormon monthly testimony meetin'...

Oh, and if you have time for a three-minute nap in the barn's haystack, be sure to locate that Mormon needle while you're snoozin'...(Hint: It's located right next to the maps of the Book of Mormon)

But, hey, other than that, at least PD's links take you to a fair # of unofficial dairy associations in various areas.

P.S. Those unofficial Mormon dairy farmers are strictly told NOT to breath a word about how they slaughter those cows and the actual Mormon "meat" it produces...somethin' 'bout protectin' their "sacred cows" & rumors of some kind of "M.A.D."* disease those "Mormon gospel cows" are said to be producin'. * M.A.D. = Mormon After Death

So you deny that your founder Joseph Smith was a convicted felon?

(Not only that, but Smith died in a jail shootout, having two loaded weapons he was firing when they shot this criminal element...he shot others in that process...perhaps including his brother, Hyrum)

Hyrum died from a bullet from the front...but he also had an unexplained wound on his backside...and the jail was on an upper story...

Smith was a dangerous character...
...Even to his brother...
...To his associates' wives (stole 11 of them while they were still married to their husbands)...
...To the peace of Nauvoo (as Mayor, he ordered the destruction of a printing press via his hundreds of mobocrats on the loose)...
...To the citizens of Illinois (ran the largest militia in the state)
...To the governor of Missouri (Boggs had an assassination attempt on his life -- linked to Smith's bodyguard, Porter Rockwell, who was arrested for the crime)
...To the citizens of Kirtland, Ohio (Smith slipped out of town in the middle of the night after a bank ownership failing there)

I'm telling you, if the Mormon Public Relations operation was as good in the 1820s through 1840s as it is now, Smith couldn't have even been hired by Lds, Inc. as a professional rockhound!

Acts 8:27-39 NIV

27 So he started out, and on his way he met an Ethiopian[a] eunuch, an important official in charge of all the treasury of the Kandake (which means “queen of the Ethiopians”). This man had gone to Jerusalem to worship, 28 and on his way home was sitting in his chariot reading the Book of Isaiah the prophet. 29 The Spirit told Philip, “Go to that chariot and stay near it.”

30 Then Philip ran up to the chariot and heard the man reading Isaiah the prophet. “Do you understand what you are reading?” Philip asked.

31 “How can I,” he said, “unless someone explains it to me?” So he invited Philip to come up and sit with him.

32 This is the passage of Scripture the eunuch was reading:

“He was led like a sheep to the slaughter,
and as a lamb before its shearer is silent,
so he did not open his mouth.
33 In his humiliation he was deprived of justice.
Who can speak of his descendants?
For his life was taken from the earth.”[b]

34 The eunuch asked Philip, “Tell me, please, who is the prophet talking about, himself or someone else?” 35 Then Philip began with that very passage of Scripture and told him the good news about Jesus.

36 As they traveled along the road, they came to some water and the eunuch said, “Look, here is water. What can stand in the way of my being baptized?” [37] [c] 38 And he gave orders to stop the chariot. Then both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water and Philip baptized him. 39 When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord suddenly took Philip away, and the eunuch did not see him again, but went on his way rejoicing.

Acts 8:27-39 (PD Version, ©2010)

27 So he logged on to FR, and on his way he met a Potential Investigator, a Noobie in need of Salvation (which means “Living forever in the Presence of GOD”). This person had gone to FreeRepublic to learn, 28 and while he was reading threads; he was also sitting in his computer chair reading the Book of Isaiah the prophet. 29 The spirit told PD, “Reply to that person and stay in the conversation.”

30 Then PD replied to the Noobie and asked. “Do you understand what you are reading?”

31 “How can I,” he said, “unless someone explains it to me?” So PD invited himself to continue to chat with him.

34 The Noobie asked PD, “Tell me, please, who is the prophet talking about, himself or someone else?” 35 Then PD fumbled with that very passage of Scripture and was unable to tell him the Good News about Jesus; but explained that it COULD be found in the Book of MORMON and OTHER non-official sources.

36 As they traveled along the road, they came to some water and the Noobie said, “Look, I've asked all kinds of questions; but you seem to be unable to answer even just ONE of them.   37 Why are the ANTI-mormons (as you lovingly call them) so much better at supplying answers?"

38 "They are hateful bigots; only capable of spewing regurgitated LDS teachings.  Pay them no mind.  Seek for yourself the TRUTH in the OTHER books I've refered to."

39  Discouraged by the VAST amount of information that had to be sifted thru; the PI went away in a hopeless mood.

Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.
