It’s a bit more complicated than Hannity merely being “pro-life.” As a public figure who represented that Catholicism was a key component of his life, his public dissension on Church teaching on birth control was scandalous.
I see said the blid girl.
I did not know the conflict was about birth control. I thought it was about abortion and I know Hannity speaks out against abortion so I could not understand.
Hannity’s pro-life is a good example of”filthy rags” righteousness; its all for looks.
I think the woman, (can’t remember her name)did a good job trying to explain to Hannity why his stance on contraception is wrong.
As I recall, he tried to say that he was talking about non-Catholics as a way to excuse what he was saying.
She very gently explained to him that the sin is a sin regardless of one’s faith tradition and that as a Catholic, he should promote the truth.
I do think that it is more that Hannity is ill informed, as are many, many, many Catholics today and didn’t mean to cause scandal.
I believe the worse sin was his arrogance in being corrected which he has now compounded by even mentioning that this had happened with Fr. Tom.
Most of his audience probably don’t remember him or know him and bringing it up was just spiteful.
