It has been said that the book (green) that Pope John Paul II kissed was not the Koran, but was the Book of Gospels for the Orthodox Church or some other Eastern Rite Church.
I think what my furor Pope thinks.
Might I suggest you take this up with the man upstairs. Me, I prefer to follow the commandments he has given us. You are aware of this commandment, are you not?

I would actually argue that the pics of the bishops visiting the Hindu shrines is actually WORSE than what actually happened in 2009 with the Good Friday meditations, where the Indian bishop who composed them QUOTED from the ancient Indian texts, not prayed them.
So it’s just an urban legend that he kissed the koran?

Then there's the Bhagavad Gita ~ it has a series of proverbs that look remarkably like Proverbs.
Simply amazing ~ from the same Revelation? Or simply a koinkydink?
They claim they've had the Messiah at least three times ~ first as The Great Fish, then as an avatar of Shiva and then as Krishna.
It is easy to dismiss Hinduism as pagan ~ on the other hand it's less easy to dismiss the revealed truths.

Seriously - my guess is that it was a foolish act of "Ecumenism" - sadly not the only one we've had to endure, and maybe not even the worst example. If you really want to get your anti-Catholic juices going have a look at Franciscan Day of Prayer for Peace a couple of decades back.

Believe me you won't shock me by informing me of foolish or even heretical things done by leadership in the church. Christ warned us that there would be wolves in the church so we shouldn't be surprised.
Believe me it pains us Catholics more than anyone that there are so many bishops that appear to fit this description. Fortunately the trend is good - it does seem to be getting better, which started under the "koran kissing" JPII.
Now a question for you: By external appearances (no one can know the mind except God) would you say that John Paul II lived a life devoted to Christ?
I haven’t been able to find a direct link about the green book......supposedly Eastern Catholic book of the Gospels. I just haven’t looked for it.
Someone wrote on a thread that at that ceremony there were a lot of Books of the Gospels.
I really don’t have proof, but have not done a deep search for additional information on it.
