The topic was of interest today as I prepared the lesson plan for tomorrow morning's religions education class for the 5th graders who are studying Liturgy, albeit the liturgy of the Maronite Catholic Church.

Thank you for reading this informative piece. Most catholics are ignorant of the various rites and assume we are all members of one rite - the Latin Rite.

Most catholics are ignorant of the various rites and assume we are all members of one rite - the Latin Rite.

I remember watching Pope John Paul II's funeral Mass, and hearing the chant sung by the leaders of some of those other Rites, just after Communion. It was so moving.
