I know I am saved by Grace alone..Amen

(James 2:14-26 KJV) {14}What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?

James was the brother of Jesus and was the leader of the church after Jesus - until 62AD.

Jesus said: "“Judge not, that you be not judged. For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you. Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? “ (Mat 7:1-3)

It's a dangerous business, judging others. Jesus warns against it. Why do so many people feel they will be given a pass?

It might be the better part of wisdom to spend ones time tending to their own lives - there's really never enough time getting it right - and leave the judging to God? Maybe?

Ummm..Ok...I said “I am saved by Grace alone” How does that effect you? MormonISM is not Christianity..there are too many differences. I choose the Bible.

maine-iac7,

Perhaps this post by ejonesie22 on another thread can help inform your opinion...

............................................

A Christian who knows the Bible, knows that pertains to fellow Christians who are acting in a hypocritical manner, we are not to judge the hearts of our brothers and sisters in the family of Christ

HOWEVER...

We can judge actions and also teachings and doctrine that are false or contrary to the Word of God...

JOHN 7:14: “Judge not according to appearance, but judge righteous judgment.”

LUKE 12:57: “Yea, and why not even of yourselves judge ye not what is right?”

PSALM 37:30: “The mouth of the righteous speaketh wisdom, and his tongue talketh of judgment.”

PROVERBS 31:9: “Open thy mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy.”

LUKE 17:3: “Take heed... If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent,

2 Peter 2:1-3 but there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovreign Lord who bought them - bringing swift destruction on themselves. Many will follow their shameful ways and will bring the way of truth into disrepute. In their greed these teachers will exploit you with stories they have made up. Their condemnation has long been hanging over them, and their destruction has not been sleeping”

1 John 4:1 “dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world”

1 Timothy 4:1-8 1The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. 2Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron. 3They forbid people to marry and order them to abstain from certain foods, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and who know the truth. 4For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, 5because it is consecrated by the word of God and prayer.
6If you point these things out to the brothers, you will be a good minister of Christ Jesus, brought up in the truths of the faith and of the good teaching that you have followed. 7Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives’ tales; rather, train yourself to be godly. 8For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.

Did you not Judge the very post you responded to in order to formulate your response.

Righteous judgment of the words, teachings and doctrines of others is perfectly allowable by God.

.....................

The faith that saves is ALWAYS accompanied by Christ’s life expressing itself in good works. Works do not save. They are the fruit that is born as the life of Christ flows through one who is saved by faith, as a result of the Gospel of Grace.

Wrong on two counts.

You judged against real Christianity when you followed Mormonism, you continue to judge those on this thread, and in a less than dignified manner. So as is often the case with LDS apologist and the like, you rebut your own points.

Beyond that there is the fact that the passage you cite involves individuals with in the family of Christ. Judging false teachers doctrine and such is not only permissible, it is required.

I think we have beat the misuse of the words of James by the LDS into the ground. The Bible is clear, Salvation through Grace, works BECAUSE we are saved not TO BE saved.

It's a dangerous business, judging others teaching false doctrine. Jesus warns against it.

Paul warned against it.

Jude warned against it.

Timothy was told to OPPOSE it.

Christians in general are taught to fight it.

We gonna be here a lonnnnng time; as MORMONism's roots are deep; but they WILL get pulled out!

At least on FR.

Posting Biblical passages out of context is a sure way to get a response...like this one.

The New Testament is a clear revelation that we are justified by faith, not by works. After all, it's our faith that honors Christ's death on the cross. Our faith in Him as our Savior is our salvation. Then, what of works? What James is saying here (in context) is that our faith leads to our works. One's faith justifies our salvation. Our works are an outward extension emanating from our faith.

So, yes, a man can be saved by faith. But the entire package is faith, and the works that come naturally from that faith.

Got it?

While it is true Jesus Christ said:

Jesus said: "Judge not, that you be not judged. For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you. Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?" (Mat 7:1-3)

IT is ALSO TRUE that the Glorified Christ Jesus gave these words to our Apostle Paul, in order to correct people:

2 Timothy 3:16 ALL scripture is given by inspiration of God. and is profitable for DOCTRINE, FOR REPROOF, FOR CORRECTION, for instruction in righteousness.

Timothy 3:16 is not out of control judgment: it is Biblical doctrine for correcting errors regarding the Bible and Christ Jesus, etc.

This "Judge not" mode you recommend is negated by the Apostle Paul VIA CHRIST very own WORDS that we are to utilize today.

IF FALSE DOCTRINES are propagated, then we grace believers have the authority from GOD and CHRIST to preach CORRECT doctrine, and REPROOF where there is doctrine errors, and preach CORRECTION for un-Biblical doctrine, in order to bring the Christian or unbeliever into instruction in GOD's righteousness. Since Mormons distort the true about the true Christ Jesus and the Godhead Trinity and the real heavenly heaven and the real torments of hell (center of earth); then proper judgment is perfectly in order to CORRECT those doctrines that appose the Bible, and REPROOF Bible those doctrine errors. The Mormon is simply not a Christian who rejects the truth of Christ Jesus and salvation by Grace alone, not of good works, and the Godhead Trinity as is correctly described in the Bible in 1 John 5:7: For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these TREE ARE ONE (1). They are NOT to be understood as spiritual "hammer" and "nail", etc.

You are incorrect to say we today cannot CORRECT, REPROOF, and JUDGE when false doctrines are propagated...

Any person who does not honor the SON of GOD, as the Bible presents HIM, this same person does not honor the Father God, who sent HIS ONLY SON born of a virgin, made not with hands, and who DIED on the CROSS for ALL SINS, and ROSE from the grave by the power of the Godhead: the Father, the Holy Spirit, and the SON HIMSELF. All three shared in the raising of Christ Jesus from the dead. Any person who does not believe this is simply not saved. That is not judging; that is GOD WORD!
