Car theft by any other name.....
Will we ever hear a Catholic condemn crime by priests instead of downplay it and excuse it?
I suppose that if Catholic priests quit providing material for people to cover and comment on, Gamecock would have nothing to post.
I’m a life-long Protestant, and I’d still like to hear the rest of the story, which includes details from both the company and the accused. How overdue was it? Did an old man get confused about the due date or did he deliberately steal the car? Why even bring up his anti-abortion work; isn’t being a Catholic priest and pro-life, for the most part, a given? What does that have to do with the car other than smearing pro-lifers? The irony of a priest stealing a car would normally be an interesting enough news bit, but the usual abortion agenda seems to be part of the story, too.
Yeah, a lot of the extraneous information is well, extraneous.
It almost sounded like the other things he was wanted for were unrelated to this particular incident.
I don’t know how many Lysanders there are in NY, but the one I know of is not near where he was caught. The Lysander I know of is in CNY, not the Hudson Valley (Albany) area. That’s about a three hour drive difference.
***...nothing wrong with posting it. But it is hardly grounds for yet another attack on the Catholic Church.***
I started a thread on a Catholic Priest stealing a car and being arrested.
You saw it is as “another attack on the [Roman] Catholic Church.
BTW, when you another FReeper my name it is considered appropriate to include them in the “To” box.
Yes, at least where I live, unauthorized use usually corresponds to driving without a valid license/insurance/registration, something like that.
Typical MSM coverage. The car wasn’t stolen; it was overdue. Both of the other warrants were pertaining to this same car. Although charged with reckless driving, the “chase” was “a low-speed pursuit.” When apprehended, the priest was incoherent, saying something about being late for a meeting.
Sounds like he’s having mental health issues related to age.
I’m somewhat confused by this article, incidentally. Fr. McCloskey is a priest I know in my own area, and like the man described, he ministers to charismatics, and is very active in the pro-life ministries. The photo sort of looks like hm, but if it is him, the transformation is rather shocking. (No, to any other Catholics, I’m not confusing him with the priest at the Catholic Information Center in DC.) This Fr McCloskey is a very decent man, and a very sincere, devoted Christian, not one of the mamby-pamby Religious Left priests. However, I have never known him to be connected to the Albany diocese. I almost can’t help wondering if the paper confused the two. Then again, it mentions he’s not presently attached to a parish; maybe he simply spends a lot of time in my area?
In any event, if it is him, this is very sad news, not a moment to cackle at those Catholics, Gamecock. If you do so, you are on the side of Satan in my book.
They may pretend to be Protestant, which is a joke as Protestants are our Christian brothers, but under this mask, this group of leftists says the following about Christians and Jews (more details on my profile page)
:
This an entire cover-up of religion to keep their group's true agenda of fomenting discord -- just like the Westboro Baptist Club
