I don’t know where you get Wednesday from, but the Jews were in a hurry to get him buried because the next day was the sabbath.
While I find such an argument to be somewhat odd and likely misguided, it is this very kind of thing that distracts Christians from what we SHOULD be doing-
All these inconsequential debates when folks are dying every day without Jesus Christ - and entering in to an eternity separated from God in perpetual torment.
I think there are FAR more important concerns (not that I am against a good-natured debate now and then, so long as it doesn’t interfere with our primary purpose).
It makes a difference to some folks because the Seventh Day Adventists and other sabbatarian legalist cults want to believe He was crucified on a Wednesday because that would mean He had to raise again on Saturday, thus confirming (in their minds) sabbatarianism.
Because Christ said he would be in the tomb three days and three nights (Matt.12:40), not 2.
