His version of “Go Tell It On The Mountain” is great. As far as “ripping off” music, I disagree completely. Simon is not motivated by money, he loves music of every genre. A true artist, warts and all.
“Well my Lord spoke, he spoke to me
Yes he did, yes he did
Talkin’ about a man from Galilee
Yes he did, yes he did
My Lord spoke, he spoke to me
Yes he did, yes he did
Talkin’ about a man from Galilee
Yes he did, yes he did
He brought joy joy, joy into my heart”

Simon & Garfunkel - Benedictus
“benedictus qui venit in nomine Domini.”
(”Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord.”)
I remember singing “Was a sunny day” in music class in the late 70’s. I didn’t know it was a Paul Simon song from 1972. And weirdly, it was playing in the background at the restaurant I was eating breakfast in this morning. I hadn’t heard his version before.
