My brother’s father-in-law is a Church of England priest. “Vicar Tom” heads at least four parishes in southeastern England.
The relevance of this point to the article is that once, all these churches had their own resident clergy. I’m sure the CofE has lots of vacant vicarages in which priests in the process of “transmutating” could continue to live, if necessary.

Always nice to live on the dole and the work of others to support his nine children. He should take up tent making like Paul, if he couldn’t sell his work he could either live in it or let the perpetually pregnant wife wear it!
