Actor Jim Caviezel, his voice sometimes cracking with emotion, spoke of being "rejected in my own industry," the problems of his friend Mel Gibson and his son's cancer in an appearance Saturday night at First Baptist Church of Orlando.
The star of "The Passion of the Christ," whom First Baptist pastor David Uth described as "more passionate about God" than anyone he's ever met, was in town to give witness to his faith, to urge others to share it and to sell a new all-star audio production of the Bible that he has produced.
During a 20-minute talk, Caviezel spoke of the troubles that have dogged Gibson, his "Passion" director, who has been labeled an anti-Semite in addition to being caught on tape ranting and cursing out the mother of his youngest child.
The actor recalled Gibson's offering him the role of Jesus in the film, then calling him back to beg him not to take it:
"He said, 'You'll never work in this town again.' I told him, 'We all have to embrace our crosses.' '' (snip)
Caviezel said he doesn't worry about the career price he paid with that film — a global box-office smash that led to fewer, not more, film offers for him. "The awards, the hall of fame" that actors get into here on Earth, he said, don't matter to him. His reward, he said, will come in heaven.
"We have to give up our names, our reputations, our lives to speak the truth," Caviezel said.

Amazing, but really no surprise.
I saw a SciFi film Outlander which he stars as an extra terrestial human landing in Scandanavia after his ship was force to land by a creature. Captured by Vikings and later helping them to fight and kill the creature. Enjoyed the film. No cursing, no sexual scenes, good action and good plausible plot. Theme centered on how to be a good king, emphasis on human virtual over reliance on raw power/oppression, knowledge and brains over brawn. The actress casted to played the Viking king’s daughter was not some scant clad awesome beauty, but a good looking young woman whose beauty was her strong character

No surprise at all that he’s been blacklisted.
Gibson had a small $25m budget for the film, so he gave his actors points on the movie, which was obviously extremely successful. Hard to feel sorry for Caviezel when he now has an estimated net worth of $45m. It’s ok guys, he’s going to be alright.
If Caviezel does a blasphemous movie or endorses a liberal candidate, that will get him back into the good graces of Hollywood.

I dug “outlander” too, Fee. Aliens in circa 900 Scandanavia? I’m there. Plus John Hurt and Ron Perlman. The acting was great for such a bizarre(but fun) concept.

I enjoyed that movie as well. The actress you’re thinking of is Sophia Myles. Since she was naked in most of her previous film, she was an interesting choice for this one. It’s a pity that she hasn’t done anything other than British television.
Just being realistic. I mean really, if I had jumped on FR when my last job ended during the recession and said, “I’m really bummed guys, Titus let me go, I’m having trouble finding a job in a depressed industry and I only have forty-five million dollars to live on.” what kind of responses do you think I would have gotten?
She starred in the American series, "Moonlight" with Alex O'Loughlin. He's a vampire who is also an investigator; she's his sidekick/eventual girlfriend who works with him on cases. They had great chemistry.

Say what you want about Gibson, but he knows how to tell a story. The Passion was an excellent movie. So was Apocalypto, and for that matter, Braveheart. I hope he turns things around.
Maybe for him it’s not about the money. Maybe for him it’s about the message... and his message is pretty much stifled by blacklisting.
