Not to go off subject..but have been researching further on occults and false religions...where they are at..who is who their histories etc. Interesting factoid that plays out with those who have greatest memberships... they all have one strong feature in common...they use Christian verbage, distort it and twist it...and also with the same end result in mind..."You will be like God or become a God." additionally Jesus Christ is eventually removed pretty much entirely and becomes far far less then He is at the very least...replaced by another entity...or personage which dethrones his rightful place. Scientology, New Age Spirituality, Mormons, Hinduism all retain their memberships almost identically....same tactics....same bait....same experiences... and all have rites of passage. I write this because the scripture reference you gave where Jesus strongly warns us not to be led astray...and the fact He mentions.."MANY" will be the enticers... and "Many" will follow. As for "date setters".....by setting dates those people are actually calling Jesus a lier....He said no man will know that time....now either that is the truth...or not. And if that's not the truth then anything else he said can be put into question.
Satan will always mix just enough truth with the lies to ensnare people.
That’s why it’s so critically important to know Scripture so thoroughly. When Satan tempted Jesus, even using Scripture which he twisted and distorted, Jesus replied with *It is written....*
Jesus didn’t try to argue with Satan, but rather countered with the real truth of God’s Word.
Warning Against Apostasy
Hebrews 5:11-14
11About this we have much to say, and it is hard to explain, since you have become dull of hearing. 12For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the basic principles of the oracles of God. You need milk, not solid food, 13for everyone who lives on milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, since he is a child. 14But solid food is for the mature, for those who have their powers of discernment trained by constant practice to distinguish good from evil.
“they all have one strong feature in common...they use Christian verbage, distort it and twist it...and also with the same end result in mind...”You will be like God or become a God.””
The “Gospel of self-esteem” fits in there rather neatly!
