This has been a test of the Rapture Broadcast System. This has been only a test. Had this been the actual Rapture, you would have had no warning whatsoever, and whether you’d been caught up or not, you’d be going “Whoa! What just happened?”.
And no, as embarrassing as it might be for him, Mr. Camping’s not having a really tough weekend. A really tough weekend would be if he’d pulled this foolishness back in Old Testament days and got stoned as a false prophet when it didn’t happen.
Camping has read, and reread, and reread it again many times over.
He sees all kinds of subtle clues for his views hidden throughout the text.
This advice is commonly given, but individuals like Camping are a constant result of this advice.
You know this for a fact?
Don’t be so hard on the poor ol guy. Harold, we all make mistakes. It’s not like its the end of the world. :)
No, he’s seen what he wants to see. Reading the Bible over and over doesn’t cause mental illness.
Yes.
Isn’t this the guy that made a similar prediction in the 90’s?
RE: how did this become such a media hype?
Same way the Koran Burning church became a huge media hype.
Practice makes perfect.
“....but its just not at all the way people believed it would be?”
Some preterists think that....
RE: Maybe He already has returned, but its just not at all the way people believed it would be?

“Look, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him; and all the peoples of the earth will mourn because of him. So shall it be! Amen.” (Revelations 1:7)
He's not insane.
What reading the Bible over and over often does is to create a sense in the reader that they have "mastered" its contents and that all of their own personal opinions and views are clearly and repeatedly affirmed in its pages.
The number of people who insist that they are able to tell you what the Bible "really" means are legion.
That isn't insanity. It's pride.
These people (Camping followers) apparently haven’t read the WHOLE Bible (or at least the part where Jesus states even He doesn’t know the exact time-and-day)..

It appears Camping could not see the forest for the trees...
Not when you make such a public declaration of knowing when the world ends and the Bible clearly tells you that no one knows that except the Father. And he’s done it once before with the same result. What’s the definition of insanity?
You should contact Mr. Camping and compare facts.
Maturity in Christ and years of studying the bible have lead me to this conclusion. Unfortunately there is a huge problem in churches across America, feel good gospel with no depth. They want to be happy, enjoy life and just get through this life and graduate to heaven, forgetting the reason they are here on this earth. I feel great sorrow over those that believe they are saved but have no evidence of their faith.

What does preterist stand for?
