Catholics and the Government {Ecumenical}

For a nation that takes pride in keeping church and state apart the record is dismal to say the least. Religion, especially Christianity, plays a very significant role in all aspects of politics and human life. So, it is not surprising that the Catholic bishop of Brooklyn has called upon all Catholics to boycott elected representatives in New York. I suppose one must feel relieved that he did not call upon the Catholics to boycott the entire state government.

..The problem is that the church has helped twist the issue of same sex unions until the issue has been distorted beyond recognition. Same sex unions should not be viewed simply as the permission to have sex but the desire of two adults to live together and raise a family. This can be done in the conventional way as normal couples do or through adoptions as gay couples do. Should it matter to the church or the state whether a couple produces these children through sexual union or adopt children discarded by their biological parents?

..Is the bishop asking the Catholic congregation to discriminate against gays and lesbians and everyone who sympathizes with them?

..Religion is not about understanding God but understanding God’s concept of the meaning of human life.

Libspeak -- the Church never said to discriminate against gays and lesbians. Marriage is not a right.

Blow it out your ear and shove it up your smelly Obama WaPo.

Your intellectual and factual record is just about as strong as that of the Obamaloon.

You are a joke...but no one is laughing.
