Case in point, NHM as proof of the Book of Mormon that Resty posted earlier. No non LDS scholar or archeologist would accept it as being proof of the BoM. The flip side of this coin is that one of the major proponents (Ashton) of NHM is also a major ufologist. Well, I guess if you believe in mormonism, then other outrageous beliefs are possible too.

I’m not surprised. In professional circles book of Mormon ‘archeology’ is classified the same as Atlantian and Alien archeology - ie psuedo archeology.
One of the fun things to do, is go to the AIA meso-American meeting and ask some of the scholars about Nephite Archeology. I’ve never done it, but I did persuade one of my colleagues to do it.
