We’re down to the last or next to the last Pope in St. Malachy’s prophecies. With the world in the shape it is, things aren’t looking good.
///
Thanks to NYer for posting this. Most “end times” articles come from evangelicals (who i greatly respect for their faith. unlike people like “Father” Pfleger).

I do believe, that Benedict is the last true Pope.
as Cardinal, he himself has spoken of the corruption in the Church that St Frances predicts. (and #7 is chilling!)

And other things in the Bible itself, like the remaking of Israel (after 1800 years! ...but it says the true miracle, is that it will occur in a single day. which it did.)
...the false Prophet (and false teachers) that Jesus himself warned about, and that another religion would become the largest in the world (which the Pope quietly announced last year), etc.

This, St Francis, bgill’s reminder about St. Malachy, and Fatima, reminds us that Catholics too understand Matthew 24, and while no man may know the hour, we are certainly told we WILL know the season, so we can prepare.

i only disagree about “...looking good.”
yes, it will be terrible. but, also it is joyous to know,
that possibly within our lifetimes, we will see prophecy fulfilled, and the return of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Can someone enlighten as to the religion being mentioned?

#7 is chilling!

7. Some preachers will keep silence about the truth, and others will trample it under foot and deny it."

It's already begun. A Swedish pastor, named Ake Green, was put in jail for a month for preaching that homosexuality is a sin. This was done under the Swedish hate crimes law. Canadian and French legislators have been fined for publicly criticizing homosexuality.

Meanwhile, other christian ministers are attuning their views to contemporary 'enlightenment', as they see it. ... THE "BIBLICAL" ARGUMENTS FOR HOMOSEXUALITY

So, where does that leave the average individual? Confused! There are good reasons why Satan is called the Prince of Lies. He is clever, yet subtle, when he whispers his lies and many are the christians who have begun to cave. From the above article,

On the basis of Scripture, Seventh-day Adventists historically have rejected homosexuality as morally unacceptable. Today, however, some are reinterpreting the Bible to allow for the practice. Proponents claim that scriptural references to homosexual acts are culturally-conditioned, and thus do not suffice to determine God’s will for homosexuals today.

This is an excellent example of the subtlety with which Satan works. He whispers, cajoles and causes confusion. It takes a strong faith to hold fast to scriptural truths. That is the "rocky road" that our Lord indicated we need to travel in order to reach heaven.

Attn 4yearlurker: Your posting on the Baptist minister's prediction is right on target. Back in the late 60's, when our nation was still strong and christian faith prevailed, I met an Italian immigrant who became a good friend. One day, after assessing the american landscape, he made a comment that has remained with me to this day.

The Italian education system, at that time, mandated that children study the classical history of: Rome and Athens. The program entailed learning the language, culture, history, etc. of each civilization. Equipped with what he had learned, he began his commentary. He noted that the US, in the late 60's, had an active feminist movement. Pointing to the ancient Greek and Roman civilizations, he stated that both had traveled down that road. In both instances, once women rose to power, homosexuals were soon elevated to equal status. Once this occurred, each civilization collapsed. He then predicted that "within your lifetime, you will see the collapse of the US."

Keep in mind, this was the late 60's, in the US of A. Upon hearing his comments, I laughed heartily. I attributed his views to envy for a country that was healthy and powerful, unlike Italy. I stopped laughing decades ago, as I witnessed his predictions become reality. What's most alarming, however, is that this situation is not limited to the US. It is worldwide! There is no escape, no country to which one can flee for shelter from this storm. If anything, because we are still such a strong christian nation, we have been able to avoid the same issues that have plagued so many other nations.

With the passage of the same sex marriage bill in the NYS Senate, and the passage of legalized same sex unions in Rhode Island, the tide has progressed from simply lapping the shores of our country. Already the governor of Maryland is looking into a bill to legalize ssm in that state.

We live in very dark times. In the 7th Book of Matthew, we are told:

13. "Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the road broad that leads to destruction, and those who enter through it are many.

14. How narrow the gate and constricted the road that leads to life. And those who find it are few.

As the society around us collapses, we must draw strength from those words.

Are you sure that the prophecies of St. Malachy are approved? I understood that they weren’t. I’ll have to do some research.
