***To offer this unrepentant murderer and socialist the blessings of your church is sickening.***

The Blessing of the Sick is to help the soul of the person who receives it. It contains a Confession, and like all Confessions it is only valid if the penitent confesses all mortal sins and, most importantly, truly and completely regrets any offense to God.

Even if you and I think that Chavez is unrepentent, we are only mortals,as is the priest. God is the final justice. The priest merely represents him, but God makes the final decision. And you can’t fool God.

Even those in power need grace, in fact, those in power need the most grace for conversion and sanctification. Because they are the ones who are responsible for every sin committed in their administration.

I don’t get your point, you ask why? I ask you, why not?

Because he is evil?

Every sacrament is an encounter with Jesus who alone transforms sinners into saints.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if bad man Hugo had a conversion of heart?

“Wouldn’t it be wonderful if bad man Hugo had a conversion of heart?”

Nobody should “bless” him till he publicaly repents of his very public crimes.

Let us all pray for healing for Hugo...keeping in mind (and this is putting it mildly) that that boy’s got a lot more ailing him than cancer.

When Teddy the Swimmer croaked, someone here said that the end-of-life ceremony was going to bail Ted out from a life of fighting against God.

See Ephesians 2:8-9!!!

Good post, by the way.

So, exactly, what is the point of the “blessing”????????

If someone TRULY repents in faith to God, then the “blessing”

is

UNNECESSARY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Offering Chavez the Sacrament of Holy Confession would be most appropriate!!!!

Of course, one has to WANT to repent and receive this Sacrament!!!!

The Catholic Church doesn’t say no to sinners seeking God.

He needs more than anointing to have spiritual strength; I doubt that he even has a soul.

Not according to the Bible. James 5:14-16

Nice!

Explain a full blown Catholic funeral for an unrepentant arch pro-abortionist.

It’s worse that doing Herod’s funeral... he only killed the babies from one town!

Explain the Kennedys.

The treatment of the Kennedy's (and Cuomos) was and is a scandal.

There is no getting away from that.

I'm unsure whether the Chavez situation is comparable.

Nope. Just true.

“Explain a full blown Catholic funeral for an unrepentant arch pro-abortionist.”

Simple:

1) Bad decision by the bishop.

or

2) Death bed change of heart.

“It’s worse that doing Herod’s funeral... he only killed the babies from one town!”

And Kennedy killed one woman.
