Salvation Bible Verses
DestinedforHeaven.com

Posted on 08/04/2011 4:18:47 PM PDT by destinedforheaven

Below are several bible verses of God calling us to have a relationship with Him.

Ephesians 2:8-9 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.

Matthew 10:32 “Whoever acknowledges me before men, I will also acknowledge him before my Father in heaven.

Romans 5:8-9 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 10:9-10 “That if you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.

John 3:16-21 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. This is the verdict “Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God.”

Acts 4:12 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.

Acts 2:38 Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized , every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of Holy Spirit.

I Peter 2:24 He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.

John 5:24 I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life.

John 11:25,26 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; (26) and whoever lives and believes in me will never die.” Do you believe this?”

2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

Isaiah 53:4a, 5-6 Surely he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows… He was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed. We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.

John 6:47 Very truly, I tell you, whoever believes has eternal life.

John 10:9 I am the gate. Whoever enters by me will be saved.

John 14:1-3 Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.

John 14:6 Jesus said, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

Acts 10:36,39,40,43 Jesus Christ–he is Lord of all. They put him to death by hanging him on a tree; but God raised him on the third day….everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name.

Acts 16:30-31 “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” They answered, “Believe on the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved.”

Romans 8:1 Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

Romans 10:13 Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.

Tradition / Church Fathers

We are Saved by Faith and Works, and Not Faith Alone

You got that in the wrong column:

Romans 2:7:
To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life.
I Timothy 4:16:
Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.
James 2:17, 21-26:
In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.

Was not our father Abraham considered righteous for what he did when he offered his son Isaac on the altar? You see that his faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was made complete by what he did. And the scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness,” and he was called God’s friend. You see that a person is considered righteous by what they do and not by faith alone.

In the same way, was not even Rahab the prostitute considered righteous for what she did when she gave lodging to the spies and sent them off in a different direction? As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.

I think it’s you Sister who needs the praying on. You are confused spiritually and equally ignorant of Christian fundamentals, doctrine and it’s core principles and tenants. I appreciate your sincerity but you are sincerely wrong about most if not all of the Christians fundamentals, including the role of Mary, salvation, substitutionary atonement, the Old testament, eschatology, biblical hermeneutics, etc. I advice you Sister to lose the religion and find Jesus, and I will pray for YOU. What I will not do it sit back and watch apostates like you spam threads uncontested and unchallenged.

Romans 2:7: To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life.

With regards to any scripture in the bible, Context is King.

Paul, quite clearly, lays out the case that our salvation is not dependent on our works, but solely the grace of God.

By including your incomplete, evil, sinful works as necessary as part of your salvation you are negating the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Your works have no value unless God has imputed righteousness to you through the sacrifice of Christ. Only when all things have become new and old things have passed away, when God has performed the miracle of justification, forgiveness and restoration, commonly called Salvation, the New Birth, being Born Again, etc. will any of your works have any value, and only because God has changed your heart and infused you with his Grace.

1 What shall we say then that Abraham our father, as pertaining to the flesh, hath found?

2For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God.

3 For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.

4 Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.

5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.

6 Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works,

7 Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.

8 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.

If God exists = True

and

If Christ = God’s Son

and

If Christ’s Death on Cross = Payment for the sins of the world

then

IT MATTERS

If IT MATTERS

and

If One’s behavior suggests that IT MATTERS = True

then

Salvation = True

Else

Salvation = False

>>I cannot judge; how can you?<<

“Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment.” John 7:24 The Greek word for judge is “krino” and it means “to call into question”. This is what Jesus means when He says “judge with righteous judgment”. We are to call into question the unbiblical actions of individuals and discern for ourselves whether or not to follow such a person. This is something that is sorely lacking in the Christian community today. It seems everyone is afraid of being accused of judging others. Mostly this misrepresentation of scriptures comes from those who are not following Jesus at all, let alone being biblically knowledgeable. When that verse is used it is always in relationship to someone condemning someone else’s seemingly judgmental attitude. Christians aren’t to condemn, but we are to judge/call into question the actions of others and use biblical discernment to do so.

Actually the apostates are folks who come up with their own philosophies -- like Gene Robinson etc.

1 Peter 3:21 Whereunto baptism being of the like form, now saveth you also:

Mk 16:15-16

15And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

16He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

Remember --> He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved;

James 2:14 [14] What shall it profit, my brethren, if a man say he hath faith, but hath not works? Shall faith be able to save him?

We are saved by the grace of God, by the Blood of the Lamb, by the one-time Sacrifice of Our Lord and God Jesus Christ --> he has specifically taught us that we progress on the path of sanctification through faith, baptism, eucharist and endurance to the end

Matt 24:13 But the one who endures to the end will be saved.

tries to add to the bible

Actually one adds to the Bible when one says "faith alone" except in the context of James "one is not saved by faith alone...."

Also the commandment to not add or remove is from Apocalypse 22:18 to 19 [18] For I testify to every one that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book: If any man shall add to these things, God shall add unto him the plagues written in this book. [19] And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from these things that are written in this book. --> this is specifically ONLY about the Book of Apocalypse

Finally, even if one mis-reads this as implying the entire collection of books that is the Bible, then remember -- removing (take away) is also a no-no...

Church teaching is that we are saved by grace alone -- Grace is first and foremost the gift of the Spirit who justifies and sanctifies us. But grace also includes the gifts that the Spirit grants us to associate us with HIS work

you cannot be saved by your own actions, it was purely the one-time sacrifice of our Lord and God and Savior Jesus Christ on the Cross that saved us. We receive the grace to grow in our faith and continue on the path of sanctification that Jesus Christ Himself gave us.

I tend to agree with you but we need to realize that it is Jesus who the Gospel comes from, not Paul nor any one else, Jesus teaches us to do unto others as we would have them do unto us, and that is where all of the good works come from because no one wants anything bad done to them.

We do not do good to some one else to get saved, we do it because the love of God is in us as we are saved.

John 6
44
No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.

There is no doubt in my mind that Christians will either have to live for Christ or die for him which is the same, and we know that many has already died for him, but my opinion as anyone living for him is of no value.

I know what you mean, its getting so you can not even read a verse in the Bible with out some one accusing you of judging.

How ever i believe most of the scriptures in the N,T is referring to judging as in sentencing, in other words do not pass a sentence on some one that would be more than you would think fair if it was you that was facing the penalty.

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

Not in that verse of John. Jesus was talking about “religiosity” or theology if you will. They were talking about circumcision. Specifically the comparison of Jesus healing on the Sabbath as compared to circumcising on the Sabbath. The verse was talking about judging the theology of ones actions or beliefs.

Rom. 4:5 But to him who does not work but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness,

By including your incomplete, evil, sinful works as necessary as part of your salvation you are negating the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Your works have no value unless God has imputed righteousness to you through the sacrifice of Christ.

As far as the works that James and Paul spoke about being "incomplete, evil, sinful" and not being necessary for salvation, as they say they are, I suggest you take it up with them.

No negating of Christ.

Faith WITH works. Are you saying that christ did not work? Did not learn skills as a carpenter? Did not cure the sick? Did not confront the hypocrites? Did not walk on water? Did not work at all?

Even God worked for six days and said that the work was “Good” and “Very Good.”

No negation of godly power there?
