As long as Mel includes 2 Maccabees 12: 39-46 in the screen play, all will be forgiven.

39 And the day following Judas came with his company, to take away the bodies of them that were slain, and to bury them with their kinsmen, in the sepulchres of their fathers. 40 And they found under the coats of the slain, some of the donaries of the idols of Jamnia, which the law forbids to the Jews: so that all plainly saw, that for this cause they were slain. 41 Then they all blessed the just judgment of the Lord, who had discovered the things that were hidden. 42 And so betaking themselves to prayers, they besought him, that the sin which had been committed might be forgotten. But the most valiant Judas exhorted the people to keep themselves from sin, forasmuch as they saw before their eyes what had happened, because of the sins of those that were slain. 43 And making a gathering, he sent twelve thousand drachms of silver to Jerusalem for sacrifice to be offered for the sins of the dead, thinking well and religiously concerning the resurrection. 44 (For if he had not hoped that they that were slain should rise again, it would have seemed superfluous and vain to pray for the dead), 45 and because he considered that they who had fallen asleep with godliness, had great grace laid up for them. 46 It is therefore a holy and wholesome thought to pray for the dead, that they may be loosed from sins.

Eternal Father, I offer Thee the most precious blood of Thy Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the masses said throughout the world today for all the holy souls in purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the universal church, those in my own home, and within my family. Amen. Jesus, Jesus, Jesus “

... but he got literally crucified for it ...

Really? Pictures or links for this event? Surely it was covered on FR.

My inclination is that Mel Gibson would do a good job, and could even possibly doing this as an atonement for past indiscretions.

Agreed. What can be harmed by expecting the best? Gibson has made a number of fine movies. During a short period he ran amok, but it appears to me that he most likely regrets that.

There’s nothing good about many of the things that he said and did during that time, but I don’t think that anyone is arguing that there was. I feel sorry for him, because for the rest of his life he will never be able to forget how he shamed himself, and no one else will be able to forget it either.

“I’m not blaming all Jews....”

Then you are simply blaming some of the Jewish people for forcing Gibson to say that all the wars in the world are caused by the Jews.

Do you have the names of these Jewish people who forced Gibson to blame them for all the wars in the world?

I think that in light of The Passion Of The Christ, Mel will certainly include that, Doctor. As far as I am concerned, I think he’ll do a fine job. I tend to stay away from most movies these days. But I am sure to see this one when it comes to the theater.

He’s a hollywierder. They are all elitist sickos in their own speical way. They all hate and demean somebody. Usually it is Christians.

Gibson makes good movies protraying slash and burn heros. Personally, he’s all slash and burn with no hero to be found. He’s a toxic drunk who fell off the wagon.

As he’s laying in the gutter, it is easy for the just as sicko Hollywierd Jews to kick him around. They all deserve each other.

I surmise that Mel has more in common with Judas Maccabee than Judas has with many liberal jews. They are the types who would be frequenting the gym in Jerusalem and affecting Greek mannners.

Mel makes good movies however unstable he may be personally.

The real shocker here is not what a small handful of folks have to say; the real shocker is that a biblical movie might be coming out of the swampland. I suspect that many Jewish folks would love to see a good historical movie about the bravery of their past ancestors. Mel is a decent director/actor and I for one would love to see him partake in this Maccabees film.

Who exactly are these Jewish people who are in the gutter kicking Mel Gibson?

Just who are these Jewish lefties attacking the drunk now? The same creeps who were attacking him when he made the Temptation of Christ? He was a drunk then and he’s still a drunk.

It was a harsh comment on his part. for sure. I do not know his motive in pursuing this project. I’m just hoping, I guess, that he feels a certain a certain shame in his earlier behavior.

Do you truly not think people can regret and change if the Lord does enlighten them?

I know it is way above my pay grade to know what is in his heart. I do know that his movie of the Passion was amazing to my soul. I’m hoping that his work in the upcoming movie will be as good.

I can respect the position that one would not be able to easily “walk back from that one” comment which you quoted.

Thank you so much for your reply.
