After the vote, some church members wiped away tears. Others said they were relieved it was finally over.

Members of Fremont Presbyterian Church – the largest Presbyterian Church in the Sacramento region – ended months of speculation Sunday when they voted to leave their national denomination and join one that church leaders said reflects more traditional beliefs

...Church leaders said their denomination had strayed from biblical adherence, most recently in July when the national denomination permitted the ordination of openly gay clergy.

The Presbyterian Church (USA) has about 2 million members and is one of a growing number of mainline Protestant churches that have voted to accept gay clergy.

The list includes the United Church of Christ, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and the Episcopal Church. The United Methodist Church is still debating.

The Evangelical Presbyterian Church says that ...marriage is a sworn fidelity, whereby God joins a man and a woman in life-long companionship. Nevertheless, divorce is permitted only in circumstances of grave repudiation of the marriage covenant, namely adultery and willful, irremediable desertion

It's ok with pastoresses

The Presbyterian Church (USA) had about 2 million members and is one of a growing number of formerly mainline Protestant churches that have had parishes depart due to openly homosexual clergy.

"It's ok with pastoresses"

And the serial polygamists who believe that wedding vows have a half life.

Did you mean “serial monogamists”?

I attended an Easter Eve service (Episcopal Church)in Beverly Hills this year and the priest bragged about “marrying” a couple of homosexuals shortly after it became legal there in CA. Said it was most moving experience he ever had (guy was midfifties). I was visiting from out of town. Won’t go back. Won’t contribute.

"Did you mean “serial monogamists”?"

Nope, I meant serial polygamists. I mean those who are OK with having more than one spouse as long as they convince themselves that having only one at a time is OK. Marriage is one man plus one woman one time.

"I think the Presbyterian church has always been a big tent," Anderson said. "There's not a right view or wrong view, there are multiple views." [-Scott Anderson, recently-ordained homosexual PCUSA pastor]

Those two sentences distill the essence of the conflict between today's PCUSA and the Bible -- and its Author.

How can all of these supposedly "Christian" churches adopt a postiton that allows homosexuals to assume leadership roles in their church??? How do they get around the fact the Bible makes several references to the fact that homosexual behavior is sinful?

PS: I'm glad they didn't include Baptists in the growing group of deviants.

Marriage is one man plus one woman one time.

Amen. With exceptions made only for those whose spouses die or abandon their part of the marriage covenant. You see way too many divorces for superficial reasons like "I just don't love him (or her) anymore." Like, who determines your feelings?

Whereas we are called by the name of Christ— we ought be imitators of Christ. And as there is a written record that
speaks to the believer— as well as to the infidel alike it seems to me the standard by which a Christian ought be judged is Scripture . And as a Christian church supposes to be particularly guardian of what a man can read in Scripture—
any church that leaves the sound doctrine of Jesus Christ reflected in Scripture ought see the Christians leave for that which they would be fed there is bitter fruit indeed.

The term serial polygamist doesn’t fit your definition but serial monogamist does.

The PCUSA has been taken over by liberals, and they are interested in gay-rights. They're oblivious to the fact that gay clergy molested children in other denominations.

I think people are realizing that the reform is going to have to come from the people.

It’s even happening in the Catholic Church, only not to the great extent it is happening in the Protestant churches.

When will people realize that there is only One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church?

"The term serial polygamist doesn’t fit your definition but serial monogamist does."

I understand your point, but the point I am trying to make is that if we truly accept our marriage vows as being permanent then those who divorce and remarry are actually polygamists.

As a former member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, it seems ironic that it is the ones who have held fast to the truth of the Scriptures who have to leave their churches to remain true to God.

Since these theologians and clergy have departed from the truth of the Bible, they are the ones who should have to leave and establish their own denomination.

Well, after the North and South split, those in the north faithful to the Lord had to leave and go to Judah.
