Mormons worship a different jesus
Ogden Standard-Examiner ^ | Oct. 19, 2011 | Betsy Harvey

This is in response to "People should learn about Mormons before criticizing." This is absolutely true and I have done just that. I am a Christian and have many Mormon friends, family and neighbors that I choose to love in spite of our differences. Just because Jesus Christ's name is on the church doesn't mean it's the same Jesus I worship. Gordon B. Hinckley, on June 6, 1998, in Geneva, Switzerland had stated that Mormons do not believe in the traditional Christ. They believe that Jesus is our elder brother.

Brigham Young stated on Feb. 8,1857 that the god of "this" world had sexual relations with Mary and fathered Jesus.

Traditional Christians have been criticized for centuries for their beliefs, so Mormons must accept the fact that they worship a different Jesus. I suggest they read the Bible and see the difference. Read Isaiah 14:14. In this country we have religious freedom to believe in many gods, no god or Yahweh (the everlasting God).

Mormons teach the resurected Jesus of the Bible. Most other “Christians” teach the Jesus of the Pagan Constantine. Read Eusibius if you don’t believe me.

Hardly webby. Show us where in the bible heavenly father started his progression to godhood as a man. Show us where in the bible Jesus started his existence as a spirit child of Elohiem and one of his wives. Show us where in the bible the atonement was achieved in the garden. Show us in the bible where Jesus had to progress to godhood on his own.

Talk to us about 'paganism' webbie. Mormon pantheon of gods and goddesses where the head god departs Kolob (olympus) goes and has sex with a human and 'begets' a divine man. And then mythical adventures occur in the western hemisphere (as of yet to be pinpointed)

BTW webbie - the Trinity,by name, was taught for at LEAST more than 100 years prior to Nicea.

Read other ANF if you don't believe me.

From the statue in Temple Square down town SLC

“I ASKED WHICH OF THE SECTS WAS RIGHT AND WHICH I SHOULD JOIN. IWAS ANSWERED I MUST JOIN NONE OF THEM. THEY WERE ALL WRONG. THEY TEACH FOR DOCTRINE THE COMMANDMENTS OF MEN

The Smith family was excommunicated from the Palmyra Presbyterian Church in Palmyra, NY in March, 1830 for preaching blasphemy...

Joey Smith later wrote about that period...

I then said to my mother, “I have learned for myself that Presbyterianism is not true.” (Joseph Smith Pearl of great Price (JS History 1:20)

“It is true that many of the Christian churches worship a different Jesus Christ than is worshipped by the Mormons.” – LDS publication, Ensign Magazine, May 1977, p. 26

Not the same Jesus

“There are those outside the Church who say Latter-day Saints do not believe in the traditional Christ.

No, I don’t.

The traditional Christ of whom they speak is not the Christ of whom I speak.”

– LDS President Gordon B. Hinckley (LDS Church News, June 20, 1998)

"...Why does anyone care about how someone else worships? Who cares what the Mormons do or the Catholics or Protestants or Episcapalans or Luthrans etc... Everyone should worship as they see fit and the rest of us should mind our own business."

AMEN! The only "religion" we should be concerned about is Islam which at its core wants to stifle personal belief and liberty and condones killing anyone who does not share their belief.

50,000 Mormons have knocked on your door? I don’t think 50,000 people have knocked on my door ever. I would move if I was you.

i am more interested in the government getting out of the way of business so the economy can recover.

Oddly enough there are vast portions of FR where you can discuss politics and the economy. And yet you wander into the Religion Forum and chide us for discussion religion?

that is an issue well worth debating.

What good is an economic recovery if a person lose's his/her eternal salvation

Really, you should only care about Islam? What about the merging of Christianity and Islam? Would you be concerned about that? There are a few mega church pastors trying to that very thing, calling it Chrislam. Now granted Rick Warren doesn't advocate killing but the Muslims, who believe that Jesus will return and convert into a muslim and tell his followers to do the same, will preach that people who do not covert should be killed. When Christianity is watered down and tried to be made into something its not, there's only an evil result.

When people are deluded into thinking Mormons are Christians, they open the door to other kinds of false teachings and beliefs,.

Religion is a very private and personal matter. It matters not to me how anyone worships. If that is their belief then so be it. Everyone to their own comfort zones.

I am Catholic and believe in God.

I guess Obama's ties to Rev. Write didn't bother you?

You stated you believe in God but do you believe in his son, Jesus?

Religion is a very private and personal matter.

No it is not....

If it were a completely private matter then Christ himself would not have taught "publicly"..nor would he have encouraged His followers and appointed Apostles to do likewise.

As Christians we are definitely called to defend the faith as well...especially when up against falsehoods which keep people from the truth Christ would have them to know...

False religions and cults are 'the distraction' to keep people otherwise occupied and away from the true Savior Jesus Christ...they would not be so vast in numbers were it not for the success of accomplishing just that.

We are called to bring down the strongholds which enslave people to false religions...and the teachings which bait them under the disguise of Christianity when they are not that at all...

In the Garden the enemy of men's souls stated.."Has not God said"? and til this day he continues to delude and persuade by using Christina terminology to bait and trap the uniformed of what God "really has said.

So no...Religion is not a private matter at all for it is not about religion...it is about a true relationship with the living God.....and that relationship is seen and read by all men.

Free to worship... while also being subject to laws...

In general, we’re fortunate in the USA that conflicts between these two have been infrequent. I fear that in an increasingly secular and “Godless” world, such conflicts are only going to increase as the laws of man are altered to be contrary to the laws of God.

As an unrelated side note, at some point it would be interesting to learn what facts, events, circumstances, individuals or information caused you to become so singularly focused and apparently relentlessly committed to your ongoing attempts to discredit the LDS church through FreeRepublic.com. I’m not young nor inexperienced, but I don’t think I have encountered someone so dedicated to your anti-LDS cause.

Nana, Do you know of any Down Syndrome Mormons who are temple worthy?

I was just wondering. You see lots of photos with Mormon families and their many children but I have yet to see a Mormon family with a downs child. I could be wrong, its just an observation.

I've also notice how Catholics and Protestants have them, and will adopt them too but I haven't seen Mormons do that. I know there are requirements to become temple worthy but I wonder what happens to children who are disabled?

You cite Saul of Tarsus in your twisted essay. Are you aware that Paul, that convert--Saul of Tarsus, had as one of the most important changes in his reality the understanding that the Blood Of Jesus cleanses us from unrighteousness? And are you aware that this same 'church of jesus christ of latter day saints' teaches that the blood of christ cannot cleanse anything?

"We may talk of men being redeemed by the efficacy of his [Christ's] blood; but the truth is that that blood has no efficacy to wash away our sins. That must depend upon our own action." [ LDS Apostle Amasa M. Lyman, Journal of Discourses, Vol. 7, p. 299, 1859]

And here are seven references from The Bible which show this mormonic teaching to be the anti-Christian/spirit of anti-christ:

Corinthians 10:16 The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?

Ephesians 2:13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.

Hebrews 9:14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

1 Peter 1:2 Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.

1 Peter 1:19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:

1 John 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

Revelation 1:5 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,

Yeah, you and Milt Rominy want the entire debate to cease so that he can rino his way into the nomination. And Mormons like you --those poor souls trapped in the heretical religion claiming to be 'restored christianity'-- don't want the actual quotes of their founder and subsequent leadership revealed. Your false prophet founder taught that God The Creator was once a man and therefore had to earn the attributes of godhood and be appointed by a council of gods to be god of the earth. MomronISM is polytheism. Are you as a defender of mormonISM proud of that fact?

I will go back to the beginning, before the world was, to show what kind of a being God is. What sort of a being was God in the beginning? Open your ears and hear, all ye ends of the earth; for I am going to prove it to you by the Bible, and to tell you the designs of God in relation to the human race, and why he interferes with the affairs of man. God himself was once as we are now, and is an exalted Man, and sits enthroned in yonder heavens. That is the great secret. (Joseph Smith, Journal of Discourses, Vol. 6, p. 3, 1844)

Now, that's your mormonism cue to accuse me of hating Mormons. And when you do, some will believe your deceit, but many will understand that it is only love that risks ridicule to reveal truth to the lost. Mormonism is not Christianity, and definitely not Christian in origin.

MormonISM is the very essence of slick anti-Christ inveigling, and the promoters of this anti-Christian religion will continue to be exposed and opposed so long as Christians are not squelched by the political correctness approach inherent in the lie that exposing mormonISM is hate or hatred of the people trapped in this demonic cult

Is a “community leader” kind of like a “community organizer”?

Hmmm, sounds familiar.

I see VERY little difference bewtwen Obsma and Rmoney. Rmoney is MAYBE a little less leftist, but he’s about equal to Bill Clinton, politically.

If a person asks to have his or her name removed from the records of the church, it happens. It is very easy. If they otherwise remain affiliated, then yes, contact will be initiated with them from time to time as continuing members.
