Good for him.

The way I understand it, this is actually what Charity is about. Not government funded, people funding the groups they think deserve the donations.
We have to fund everything we don’t want with tax money. Take all funding away and let people support what is dear to them.
And good on you Glenn Beck!

I love Glenn Beck!
He puts his money where his mouth is.

Good for him. Of course the others often preach the religion of liberalism and readily provide the brain washing literature validating women as victims and men as meanies. Those shelters get the funding.

I don’t support federal funds for ANY shelter, women or otherwise, but good on Beck for supporting a Christian charity.

This is PERFECT. Now the government just needs to say no to everyone else who gets this free money. I love it so much. Why are we supporting a women’s shelter anyway. The federal government can be cut so much and yet for some reason the only place they can find to cut is defense.....hummmmmmmm.

Thanks for the good news story!

He does a lot of this sort of thing without media coverage but he’s talking about this as a means of setting an example. One other case I know of is when he paid for a family to take their son to a clinic because the boy had some sort of progressive blindness that was potentially reversible but very expensive. I’ve heard of other cases that Glenn didn’t mention.
I think he follows the example of John Huntsman Sr who is a true billionaire philanthropist.

This is the kind of thing that happens when you take money from the nanny state. Good on Beck for donating to them.

This is the same sort of thing that brought the modern Black Robe Regiment into being. They’re churches that are voluntarily paying taxes so they can speak of politics from the pulpit just like the revolution era churches did.
Last winter I did as Glenn suggested. I bought a bag of groceries and gave it to someone who looked like they needed it. I saw a middle aged woman walking out of the unemployment office and gave her the bag of groceries. Inside I left a short note that said something along the lines of, “True freedom from government is tax free, see you at the next Tea Party event”

I was driving yesterday when I heard this. The lady was adamant that she would not change. She was almost in tears when Glen made the gift.
A very good read is Marvin Olasky's "The Tragedy of American Compassion"
Chronicles how government has corrupted charity.

The lesson here is, keep the government out of “charity.”
It’s not charity, anyway, when they force us to pay.
Get private funding and study the Bible without hassle.
