I met Cardinal Law personally several times. He was a friend of my Aunt, an extremely good and orthodox Catholic. Cardinal Law seemed to be a good man. He was orthodox, and the liberal priests in the Archdiocese constantly complained about that. I read many of his columns in the diocesan newspaper, and those were always orthodox.

If Cardinal Law represents Catholic orthodoxy, no wonder the Church is in such a shape.

No, all I’m saying is that I can’t make him out. He seemed orthodox, and the liberal Catholics were constantly complaining about him.

I don’t think he was encouraging the pederasts, as a few rogue bishops did. I don’t know why he didn’t do more to stop it. There was nothing wrong with him personally, as far as I could ever see.

I don’t think he would have gotten such a lot of bad press if he had been the pederast enabler that the media pretend. They didn’t do that to the real guilty parties, like Rembert Weakland.
