A New Jersey high school admits that it inadvertently censored Christmas songs that include the words God, Jesus, Santa, Christmas and Chanukah in place of music that would not be belief-specific.
Colin Curran, a student at West Windsor Plainsboro High School South, wrote about the incident in a Huffington Post blog titled, Christmas, I mean Holiday, Music.
Curran wrote that he was in charge of creating a playlist for a holiday breakfast hosted by the student council for young children. He said the student council adviser told him to avoid any holiday music that included the words God Jesus, Santa, Christmas or Chanukah.

“School Yanks Carols Featuring Santa, God & Christmas”
Parents, yank your children from these institutions.
My sister home schools her three. Plus, our house is for sale and a family came by who home schools THEIR three as well. It’s a growing trend that needs to keep growing IMO.
This is the easiest way to end the madness.
Declare July to be “White History Month”. Then sit back and watch the fur fly.
I remember when I was in choir during high school. We sang all the great traditional carols as part of our Christmas Concert, and always ended with, “Silent Night.”
Contrast that with current times: I attended a “Winter Concert” that my middle school daughter was in (a few years ago) where the choir sang the bright and lively Christmas carol, “What Do You Do With a Drunken Sailor?”
For President’s Day you may only speak the name of Dear Leader.
And not mentioning blacks is racist. Didn’t you get that memo?
“I attended a Winter Concert that my middle school daughter was in (a few years ago) where the choir sang the bright and lively Christmas carol, What Do You Do With a Drunken Sailor?
Oh yeah, that surely put everyone in the “Holiday Spirit”....(*sigh*)
ML/NJ
There you go, truth in imagery.
How about true Christians calling a boycott of Christmas shopping next year? How about not attending “Winter Concerts” at the government’s local indoctrination centers?
How about focusing on worshiping the Savior born to die on the cross for the salvation of sinful mankind?
Wow...that would be a kick in the shorts for all the parasites who look upon this holiday (literally, Holy Day) to fatten their anemic profits in this horrible economy.
I am not a Christian but people singing about Christ doesn’t bother me at all. I realize that this is a majority Christian nation and if a school wants to sing Christmas songs or Hanuka songs that’s fine. I am not harmed in any way. I believe in tolerance of things that don’t harm me but intolerance of actual evils. It’s funny that we are told to be tolerant if Occupy whatever wants to block a street or business but not of mentions of God in public places.
One of the best decisions I’ve made as a parent was to send my children to private school.
Bishop Walsh School...The teachers are fantastic, particularly in the early foundational years. Both academic and religion classes.
Thank you for yoor gracious response. It’s always refreshing to run into a civilized human being.
The irony of this action and and the stupidity of these same people is that they are preparing the way for a draconian religion that would want to kill them if they maintain the same attitude.
Amen to that :)
Pretty soon "Jingle Bells" will be all that is permitted--unless the PETA folks decide it encourages animal abuse.
The teachers should report to school on Dec. 25 for a conference day. Gee, you can’t have them home celebrating
a religious holiday, can you?
Why do they have ML King Day off? What if someone got offended? (Reminder to teachers: King was a registered
Republican. The horror!) How about Columbus day. He brought genocide over from Europe, they say, so why do they have that holiday?
“A Charlie Brown Christmas” has been a long-enduring special and gets very high ratings. It almost never got to air.
Back in the mid 60s when it was produced, the network (CBS
I think) had concerns about Linus quoting a Bible verse.
Wikipedia:
>>Network executives were not at all keen on several aspects of the show, forcing Schulz and Melendez to wage some serious battles to preserve their vision. The executives did not want to have Linus reciting the story of the birth of Christ from the Gospel of Luke; the network orthodoxy of the time assumed that viewers would not want to sit through passages of the King James Version of the Bible. A story reported on the Whoopi Goldberg-hosted version of the making of the program that Charles Schulz was adamant about keeping this scene in, remarking, “If we don’t tell the true meaning of Christmas, who will?
