You cannot teach the Ahl al-Kitab, the People of the Book, as related, and then turn around and proceed to kill them—Saturday first, Sunday next. Neither can you inscribe “God has no son” on the roof of the Dome of the Rock in Arabic—in gold—and worship the Triune God. You cannot look upon Jesus as denouncing Christians upon His return.

In a word, this is not true, even if it is taught as valid in multitudes of ME studies courses.

Your disastrously incorrect answer is important.

There is only one God.

Whatever people in error, people with unregenerate hearts, may think, there is only one God.

You say:

as many as unregenerate hearts
But that is wrong. Unregenerate hearts do not make gods. They make errors.

We think the Muslims make disastrous errors about God. You SAY (who can tell what you think -- or IF you think) that they worship a different God.

But there is only one God. You say there are many. That is the logical working out of what you say.

So you talk like polytheists.

God is not what anyone thinks he is. But you say otherwise.

We say they worship the one God about whom they are mistaken in many important ways.

You say there are many Gods. WE are monotheists. If one were to take what you say seriously, one would have to say that you are not.

Pope John Paul II may have been infallible, but he was not inerrant or impeccable. That scene represents a severe mistake, like the Assissi conference.

But Islam is a syncretism between Christianity and various pagan religions, but they do actually believe that the God they pray to is the God of Abraham, the one God, no matter how perverted and adulterated their understanding of Him is.

That Allah is somehow a moon god is a bunch of nonsense; the Christians of Syria, Lebanon, Egypt and Arabia used the name Allah centuries before Mohammed syncretized the god of Abraham with that damned meteorite. Even Mizrahi Jews call God, Allah. The name means “The God,” with the article (”the”) indicating that there is no other god.

With tens of millions of Catholic Christians living with Islamic swords hanging over their head, the Catholic pope is not free to act with the belligerence that many Protestants do. In an effort to make peace, John Paul II has made regrettable overtures, but when he teaches that the Jews, Muslims and Catholics believe in the same God, he is correct. When Benedict XVI says that the Muslims created no good thing, he is also correct. Whatever good or true Muslims know of, they know of through the Christians they have slayed and conquered. But that God they have learned of is, no matter how badly perverted their image of him is, the same God.

Muslims didn’t know what suicide bombers were until 25 years ago.

If they were alive today, you never know.

Catholics worship our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, by whom all things were made.

If you worship Christ why do you so often keep Him pictured as a small child or baby in the arms of a full grown Mary with a halo around her head. It would to all practical appearances look like it is Mary who you really worship.

Won’t happen. In fact, I predict that this will be a very long thread, with tons of Catholic bashing and a veritable square dance of self-righteousness.

Trust me, if anyone thinks that this thread will disappear, he/she has not hung around on the Religion forum for any amount of time.

My soul magnifies the Lord,
And my spirit rejoices in God my Savior.
For He has regarded the low estate of His handmaiden,
For behold, henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.
For He who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is His name. And His mercy is on those who fear Him from generation to generation.
He has shown strength with His arm:
He has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.
He has put down the mighty from their thrones,
and exalted those of low degree.
He has filled the hungry with good things;
and the rich He has sent empty away.
He has helped His servant Israel, in remembrance of His mercy;
As He spoke to our fathers, to Abraham and to His posterity forever.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen

Magníficat ánima mea Dóminum,
et exsultávit spíritus meus
in Deo salvatóre meo,
quia respéxit humilitátem
ancíllæ suæ.

Ecce enim ex hoc beátam
me dicent omnes generatiónes,
quia fecit mihi magna,
qui potens est,
et sanctum nomen eius,
et misericórdia eius in progénies
et progénies timéntibus eum.
Fecit poténtiam in bráchio suo,
dispérsit supérbos mente cordis sui;
depósuit poténtes de sede
et exaltávit húmiles.
Esuriéntes implévit bonis
et dívites dimísit inánes.
Suscépit Ísrael púerum suum,
recordátus misericórdiæ,
sicut locútus est ad patres nostros,
Ábraham et sémini eius in sæcula.

Glória Patri et Fílio
et Spirítui Sancto.
Sicut erat in princípio,
et nunc et semper,
et in sæcula sæculórum.

Amen.

She became the Mother of God, in which work so many and such great good things are bestowed on her as pass man’s understanding. For on this there follows all honor, all blessedness, and her unique place in the whole of mankind, among which she has no equal, namely, that she had a child by the Father in heaven, and such a Child . . . Hence men have crowded all her glory into a single word, calling her the Mother of God . . . None can say of her nor announce to her greater things, even though he had as many tongues as the earth possesses flowers and blades of grass: the sky, stars; and the sea, grains of sand. It needs to be pondered in the heart what it means to be the Mother of God.

(Commentary on the Magnificat, 1521; in Luther’s Works, Pelikan et al, vol. 21, 326)

. But slandering millions of Catholics by saying they serve the false god of Islam is not a fitting subject for FR. I think you should do it somewhere else.

They serve a religious system that serves the false god of Islam. All you have to do to see that is read the proof in the article with a clear mind.

Are you aware of what book that is?

It is not the Koran as Protestants would have us believe, but a copy of the Eastern Orthodox Gospels.

Gotcha!

"...Islam is a syncretism between Christianity and various pagan religions, but they do actually believe that the God they pray to is the God of Abraham, the one God, no matter how perverted and adulterated their understanding of Him is.

Good point. On a related note, if you will allow, I have no doubt many Mohammedans do seek for truth. Much of what the gentler souls among them find beautiful and "right" about what they encounter in their own teachings, seems to me to be those things which were borrowed from Judaism, and Christianity.

With tens of millions of Catholic Christians living with Islamic swords hanging over their head the Catholic pope is not free to act with the belligerence that many Protestants do.

Even a better point IMO.

Christians of Syria, Lebanon, Egypt and Arabia used the name Allah centuries before Mohammed syncretized the god of Abraham with that damned meteorite.

Hmmm, Not that I'm saying you are wrong--- but I was under the impression that "Allah" was one of many "gods" followed after by pan-theists in the Arabian peninsula prior and up to mad Mo's day...
Again, not to be argumentative (for you may very well be correct), but would you have trustworthy sources for this last comment which I highlighted?

I don’t think this guy can walk and chew gum at the same time.

First he points out that a lot of liberal Protestant ministers have abandoned any semblance of Christianity. Then he does a 180 and says that the Catholic Church is . . . Muslim.

Logic does not in any way say that both statements cannot at the same time be true, which they are. And he doesn't just say it, he proves it by documenting it. If you want to deny the facts that he presents it is your choice but you belie reason unless you can for some reason show that his factual statements do not stand. Emotionalism just doesn't cut it.
