The Rev. Mariann Budde, the newly consecrated and seated bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Washington, wants to make a stronger voice for progressive Christians.
I want to build up the liberal church again so we can be a legitimate conversation partner in the public arena religiously, said Budde to the Washington Posts Michelle Boorstein.
Budde stated that she believed this public arena is presently dominated by evangelical Christians and what many would call the Christian right, and I would agree.
Its legitimate for them to be there, but theyre drowning us out, said Budde.
In talking with the Washington Examiner, Budde spoke of supporting full inclusion of gay and lesbian people in every aspect of the life of the church and of our society.
My guess is that in five to 10 years this issue would be behind us, I really do, she told the Examiner.

They may call it a church but it's certainly not Christian. Liberalism, Marxism and Socialism are diametrically opposed to the teachings of Christ. The so-called "social justice" movement, including black liberation "theology", as favored by the left are merely forms of sin, totally contrary to the God's Eternal Word.
I was raised in the Episcopal church from infancy, and became a senior warden of our small but very old (1832) church.
It was at one time as good, if not better, then most every denomination in America.
I guess, starting about 20 years ago, the gays and Marxist
started taking over, rendering the ECUSA a cesspool of radical homos and Communist.
Many of the American flock have abandoned the ECUSA and become Roman Catholic, or Anglican.
1832. Wow, that IS old. The Episcopal Church is part of our history — and now it’s disappearing into history.
Liberation Theology is Communism in a very thin religious wrapper.
I have noticed that every time a church is based on a social gospel it either dies, or repents and then starts to grow again.
People just don’t have the passion for churches that don’t make Jesus the center. They may come for the music, they may do some good works, but there is nothing like evangelical fervor.
From wiki: What constitutes Evangelicalism?
The need for personal conversion (or being “born again”);
A high regard for biblical authority;
An emphasis on teachings that proclaim the saving death and resurrection of the Son of God, Jesus Christ;[2]
Actively expressing and sharing the gospel.
David Bebbington has termed these four distinctive aspects conversionism, biblicism, crucicentrism, and activism noting, “Together they form a quadrilateral of priorities that is the basis of Evangelicalism.”
Eh, what happened last time? No one came to the party?
Another example of everything the left touches turning to cr*p.

Garbage like this is why I have pretty much became a CEO. (Christmas and Easter Only.)
She may be right. For the Episcopal church anyway. It'll be gone due to continued exodus of sane people.
Good luck with that.

I do not blame you.
I left the church in the 90s, but soon started my international travels.
In Slovakia, I sometimes visited the very large and ornate RC churches...very impressive.
In old town Bratislava, there were about five of them, all within a short walk of each other.
Here in the Philippines, my son, now 9 months old, was christened in our small town’s main church. (Catholic, of course)
It is over 300 years old, and holds maybe 1000 people.
Its legitimate for them to be there, but theyre drowning us out, said Budde.

Yes, it is quite sad.
The Episcopal church was among the first in America, a spinoff of The Church of England.
My (ex) church is the oldest Episcopal church in west TN.
It was used as a military hospital during the civil war.
Quite sometime before I left the USA, the ECUSA was loosing traditional members in droves.
I have since lost all contact with what is happening now.
After 10 years the Episcopal "church" will be behind us. They are a dying church. The membership is plummeting and is curently about half what they claim it is. Further, the average age of the membership is over 65 years old. No young people are joining - and why should they? Who needs a church to tell you it's ok to do whatever you want? As the current membership dies off the church will just fade away. No more ears left to scratch.
Bishopess Mariann said:
“I want to build up the liberal church again...”
OK, first of all let’s just drop the word “again,” since it has no meaning in the sentence, history, or reality.
Second, “to build up the liberal church” is to empty its pews.
Third, appointing Priestess Mariann to this position is the equivalent of hiring the mortician to run the hospital’s ICU. The mission and training of a mortician differs a bit from that of a physician. Thus the mission of the ICU is changed.
Good luck, ECUSA, you will need it, because you will get no help from God.
