Evangelical is the term that suplanted fundamentalist.
It is a legitimate tem used by theologically conservative Christians to describe themselves.
Evangalical is also used as a slur...
and can mean a range of things...

I am a theological conservative Christian and I have never referred to myself as an “evangelical”. Nore anyone I know who is a theological conservative Christian has.
