The circumstances of the death of Brigham Young are still considered something of a mystery. It's not 100% certain he was poisoned by a wife, but it's almost certain he died of arsenic poisoning due to arsenic administered over a long period of time. After his death, the LDS-owned Deseret News reported it was appendicitis to quell long rumors that he was poisoned. The story gets longer after it involves the grandson of another LDS prophet, and private writings of LDS physicians. He was poisoned. But it's not the kind of thing you want to tell your Church members about your prophet.
