Plural marriage as LDS was never lived in this matter but the anti Mormons take delight in disinformation and falsehoods.

anyone can call their organization just my adding another word to their name they have nothing to do with
original organization.

of course many antis here have said in the past that keeping the Lord’s Commandments were not realistic so why even try...

FLDS has the simular ideas as the antis in keeping the Lord’s Commandments so they each practiced their faith according to the whims of men not according to Heavenly Father plan of Happiness.

The Church of Latter-day Saints.

Oh, scratch that.

The Church Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

There. Fixed it for you.

I see what you mean. The name still doesn't explain that it's a Mormon church that has been re-written by a false prophet who chased after girls as young as fourteen, while married... Helen Mar Kimball was a mere child, but she met his fancy because she was young.

I wonder how she felt when he turned his affection upon her? Did she cry herself to sleep at night?

I bet her mother did. No mother would want their child to marry that man.

You CLAIM a lot of stuff here; Resty.

I hope you have some EVIDENCE to back it up; or else you'll end up looking quite the ACCUSER once again.

Show me an "anti" who said that. Just one, not the "many" that you claim said it.

By the way, I'll keep in mind that you're the Mormon who tried to convince me of the unconstitutionality of considering Mitt's religion as a personal religious test.

Research your history resty - you will see the hole large enough to drive a semi through in your statement.

FLDS just following ALL mormon scripture - particularly D&C Section 132 - which is still DOCTRINE for ALL LDS.

I'm sorry, but I don't understand your point.

Do you mean that Joseph Smith never engaged in polygamy?

Do you mean that Joseph marriage never engaged in polyandrous marriage?

Do you mean that polygamy/polyandry was not practiced until the Saints went west?

Do you mean members of the Corporation of the President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints never practiced plural marriage?

Do you mean there was no sex in plural marriage?

Seriously, restornu, I'm not certain what you mean when you say "plural marriage as LDS was never lived in this matter". Could you please explain?

restornu, both you and Saundra Duffey quote from FAIRlds.org and Saundra advices people to go there for the truth. FAIR tells all about> the polygamous wives of Joseph Smith, Jr.

Now, I'll let you in on a secret. I'm late to go somewhere. The official lds.org website also recognizes most of Joseph Smith, Jr.'s polygamous/polyandrous wives on its site in the History of the Church and in other places. Yes. The official www.lds.org site.

I'll post it for you tonight or tomorrow.

That is, except for Fanny Alger, who is recognized by FAIR as Joseph Smith's first wife. Fanny presents a problem. Oliver Cowdry says that Fanny was an affair of Joseph Smith, not a marriage. And Fanny was before sealing existed, or priesthood authority was restored, or something - but anyway, Fanny presents a problem. The LDS Church CAN'T recognize Fanny, because she doesn't fit into the timeline properly. Yet there are many, many LDS writings about Fanny, and LDS scholars and FAIR recognize her as Joseph's first wife.

So she was either a mistress, an affair, a wife before polygamy was authorized by God, or something else embarrassing. Because everything in LDS-dom recognizes her except the official LDS website.

Does Saundra recognize Joseph Smith's polygamy?

Do you recognize it restornu?

And those other organizations that "don't have anything to do with the original organization'? They were LDS until they disagreed about who the next prophet was after Joseph Smith, Jr., or about whether polygamy should still be practiced under Brigham Young, or over whether Joseph Smith lied about polygamy, or over whether the LDS church had God's permission to ban polygamy with the Second Manifesto in 1904, despite D&C 132. The were part of the original organization.

Plural marriage as LDS was never lived in this matter but the anti Mormons take delight in disinformation and falsehoods.

Historical evidence will prove otherwise.....

Are you in a cult?

.

What is a cult?

There are two primary definitions of a cult. The modern definition of "Cult" refers to any group that uses manipulative psychological “Mind Control” techniques to recruit and control their members. To learn more about these techniques read the CULTWATCH article "How Cults Work". Most people, except cult leaders of course, accept that using mind control is a fair reason to classify a group as a cult.

Secondly, the historical definition of a cult is any group, which claims to be a Christian group yet teaches something that is not primarily a Christian belief.

The Mormons

Their official name is “Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints”. This group claims to be Christian yet teaches things which most people would immediately recognise as very unchristian. For example, Mormons believe Jesus and Satan are brothers, and that God came from a small planet near the Star base Kolob!

What they will tell you:

Mormons are Christians. (Mormons want very much to be recognised as a normal Christian denomination.)

What they won't tell you:

They believe that God is just an exalted man.

They believe that Jesus and Satan are brothers.

They believe we can become gods ourselves.

They believe that Mormon women are to be pregnant for eternity populating their own planets.

Absolutely no archeological evidence for the Book of Mormon has been discovered (except for the part that was copied straight from the King James Bible).

Over 4000 changes have been made to the Book of Mormon since it was first published - a far cry from what Smith called "The most correct book on earth."

----------------------------------------------

Information Control ( You might want to read this part Resty...)

Those who control the information control the person. In a mind control cult any information from outside the cult is considered evil, especially if it is opposing the cult. Members are told not to read it or believe it. Only the cult-supplied information is true.

This technique is really a partner to deception. Common sense tells us that a person who does not consider all information may make an unbalanced decision. Filtering the information available or trying to discredit it not of the basis of how true it is, but rather on the basis of how it supports the party line, is a common control method used throughout history. A Christian should have nothing to fear from any source of information - after all "Falsehood runs from truth, but truth stands solid against falsehood."

Deception

A cult will use deception. The cult will not normally tell people exactly what they believe, their origins, what they practice, and what life is really like in the cult, because if people knew they would not join. This information is taught to the new recruit slowly and in pieces - a "frog in the pot" tactic.

Deception is a key pre-requisite to Mind Control. The cult must be willing to deceive people. The Bible teaches that Christians are not to use deception. Many cults know this and yet practice deception.

Plural marriage as LDS was never lived

Saundra? I have another "Ask a Mormon" moment. I thought i would ask you, given that you've promoted both FAIR and MormonVoices. Where ordinary Mormons tell people what Mormons believe?

Resornu says that the LDS never practiced plural marriage. I'd like to find out from another Mormon.

Saundra? Did the LDS ever practice plural marriage? (You know; polygamy or polyandry.) Did the LDS ever practice polygamy or polyandry? Was Joseph Smith, Jr. a polygamist?

I'm asking a Mormon. On behalf of another Mormon.
