I missed this post yesterday, but thank you very much for it. I will read it now, but wanted to touch base with you and express my thanks for posting all of that information.
No problem. I hope in answered some questions.
I will be the first to admit that if men and women were made to get married before they had any children and only to one wife that would be a good thing for the children and also the taxpayers, however i know of only one polygamist family in my hundred mile radius neighborhood, and the kids , both boys and girls seem to be the ideals.
However the unwed mothers and the shack ups both drawing welfare are all over the place, why do i think this is all just a bunch of political crap or maybe the great white washed crowed of dead mens bones are coming back to life.
How consenting adults order their lives, as long as no force or fraud is involved, or direct harm comes to others, is absolutely none of the Governments business.
Nor is it any of yours.

I can understand a womans objection to polygamy, and that is nothing more than anger because they feel that women are being put down, its their pride of being put down rather than anything to do with right or wrong.
But a man that considers him self as being such, being more angry over polygamy and making a bigger deal over it than he would the homosexual movement just boggles my mind, are we entering another Sodom and Gomorrah era?
And by the way Those two cities were destroyed because of Homosexuality, not because of bigamy.

When they start popping out illegitimate children that carry on their disfunction and become a burden to society, i.e. collecting food stamps and government health care, it becomes my business.
This was the next step, once homosexual “marriage” is normalized polygamy was not far behind. I wonder when we will have challenges centering around polyandry, I mean what are we going to do with those extra men after all.
Every time one of these cases comes up there is evidence of fraud. You have your head in the sand. Unless of course you are a polygamist.
Then there’s that pesky part of the 1st Amendment which says “nor prohibit the free exercise thereof” to deal with.

You are forgetting something. There are laws which do limit certain aspects of religious observance, murder, trade and possession of body parts, cannibalism, and yes Polygamy have all be outlawed.
That still does not change the fact that Joseph Smith is behind most of modern day polygamy, not Texas.

If you read Casey, Lawrence, and Romer, there is NO QUESTION that polygamy will be legalized 5-4, unless those precedents are overruled OR the Court declines to follow precedent.

Wrong. When a men beds more than one woman, he not only has the chance to spread disease but also a chance to get the woman pregnant, which causes further social problems. Boys are often kicked out of polygamist groups and they become a burden on the state or they will act out because they often have no social position or money/property. Look at the country where polygamy is and you'll see more violence towards women. Rapes occur more often because the balance of woman to men becomes distorted.
The real problem is when men start thinking about their penises and having rights over the the betterment of society and women.
And it still doesn’t make it right or legal.

We have to judge for our selves if it is edifying or not.
It is certain to me that paul was talking about things that were not clearly condeemed by Gods laws, Paul said that for a man to lie with another man as he would lie with a woman was an abomination, he would not contradict himself by saying that was lawful.
However the only thing he said about Polygamy was that a Bishop or deacon or an elder that wanted to become one of these should have only one wife, in other words an elder who had more than one wife could not become a Bishop or Deacon.
