The OT and NT was written by Jews, inspired by God.
The validity of the NT is grounded in apostolic authorship, NOT in Roman edicts.
Firstly, there is enough to read in Paul's statements in Acts etc. that say that Luke could have been a Gentile, a Graeco-Syrian
There is also enough differences between the gospel of john and Apocalypse to state that perhaps John of Patmos wasn't the apostle john but a john the Presbyter, possibly Gentile
Secondly, no one denies that the various books in the Bible (note the Bible is a collection of books) was by individuals, yet the compilation which didn't get completed until the 3rd century was done under the guidance of the Holy Spirit IN council of the Apostolic Church: Western and Eastern
Well said in post #98. I always marvel at the historical revisionism that takes place on these threads. Unbelievable (not to mention completely inaccurate, lol!)
err... the Gospel of Luke was not written by an Apostle, neither was the Gospel of Mark (though arguably Mark was writing down what Peter taught -- as Irenaeus said)
Also, arguably, John of Patmos, the author of Apocalypse may not have been the Apostle John.
Finally, Jude is not known if it was written by the Apostle Jude or the brother of James the Just or if the two were the same.
