A reading from the Epistle of the blessed Apostle Paul to the Colossians.
Brethren, put ye on, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, the bowels of mercy, benignity, humility, modesty, patience; bearing with another, and forgiving one another if any have a complaint against another. Even as the Lord hath forgiven you, so do you also. But above all these things, have charity, which is the bond of perfection: and let the peace of Christ rejoice in your hearts, wherein also you are called in one body: and be ye thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you abundantly, in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another, in psalms, hymns, and spiritual canticles, singing in grace in your hearts to God. All whatsoever you do in word or in work, all things do ye in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, giving thanks to God and the Father through Jesus Christ our Lord.

The Gospel recorded by Blessed Apostle Saint Luke A nd when Jesus was twelve years old, they going up into Jerusalem according to the custom of the feast, and having fulfilled the days, when they returned, the child Jesus remained in Jerusalem, and His parents knew it not. And thinking that He was in the company, they came a day's journey, and sought Him among their kinsfolks and acquaintance. And not finding Him, they returned into Jerusalem, seeking Him. And it came to pass, that after three days they found Him in the Temple sitting in the midst of the doctors, hearing them and asking them questions. And all that heard Him were astonished at His wisdom and His answers. And seeing Him, they wondered. And His mother said to Him, Son, why hast Thou done so to us? Behold Thy father and I have sought Thee sorrowing. And He said to them, "How is it that you sought Me? Did you not know that I must be about My Fathers business? And they understood not the word that He spoke unto them. And He went down with them and came to Nazareth, and was subject to them. And His mother kept all these words in her heart. And Jesus advanced in wisdom, and age, and grace with God and man.. |
Homily For The Feast Of the Holy Name of Jesus 11 January 2004 Anno Domini
by Father Louis J. Campbell "Qui legit, intelligat" "He who readeth, let him understand"
A Disturbing Gospel of Peace and Love
To emulate the Holy Family we must strive toward forming the true 'civilization of love': that of the City of God, not the City of Man as newchurch Rome is advocating.
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost. Amen.
AS WE ponder the sacred mysteries of the life of Jesus Christ, we are more aware of our calling, which is to strive for Heaven, where the Holy Family, Jesus, Mary and Joseph, dwell in the glory of the Trinity. Our purpose in this life is to follow and obey Jesus Christ, so that we may one day join the Holy Family in Heaven.
To enable us to find the fullness of life in Heaven Jesus established the Church, another holy family, giving it a mission to preach the Gospel of salvation for all: "Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you" ( Blessed Apostle Saint Matthew 28:19,20 ).
Not content with the mission Jesus gave the Church, the Vatican and the pretenders firmly ensconced there have given us a new definition of salvation, giving at the same time a new direction to the mission of the Church. According to a message from John Paul II given on the Feast of the Epiphany, January 6, 2004,
-
"The mission of Christianity in the midst of humanity is a mission of friendship, understanding, encouragement, promotion, uplifting. That is, a mission of salvation" ( ZENIT ).
This speaks of a purely earthly salvation. The mission of the Church is apparently not to teach, not to make disciples and baptize them, but to leave them undisturbed in their idolatry and under the power of the devil. Heaven, it would seem, is just "pie in the sky bye and bye."
On New Years Day we heard from the same source quoted above:
-
"Christians know that love is the reason for God's entering into relationship with man. And it is love which he awaits as man's response. Consequently, love is also the loftiest and most noble form of relationship possible between human beings. Love must thus enliven every sector of human life and extend to the international order. Only a humanity in which there reigns the 'civilization of love' will be able to enjoy authentic and lasting peace" ( John Paul II, Message For the Celebration of the World Day of Peace, 01 January 2004, - ZENIT ). The supernatural is implicitly denied here, because the necessary distinction between the natural and the supernatural is lost. This is an error with disastrous consequences. One is left with the impression that human love on the natural level, that is, not infused with the supernatural virtue of charity, is all that is necessary for salvation. But it is only the charity which comes with Sanctifying Grace through the Sacrament of Baptism, the love of God that is "poured forth in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who has been given to us," ( Romans 5:5 ) that will build the City of God here and which will endure unto eternity. Friendship and love between human beings, Blessed Saint Augustine affirms, "is faithful only in Jesus Christ, and in Him alone can it be eternal and happy."
In the same document from Rome we read:
-
"At the beginning of a New Year I wish to repeat to women and men of every language, religion and culture the ancient maxim: 'Omnia vincit amor' ( Love conquers all ). Yes, dear Brothers and Sisters throughout the world, in the end love will be victorious! Let everyone be committed to hastening this victory. For it is the deepest hope of every human heart."
This Teilhardian vision of the future of humanity is contradicted every time we turn on the news. The love that is of this earth fails all too easily. The ancient maxim, "Love conquers all," comes from the pre-Christian Latin poet, Virgil. A romantic notion, true in a sense, but the ultimate failure of earthly love is inevitable. The "love that conquers all" was revealed to us by the Son of God, Jesus Christ, as He died for us upon the Cross on the hill of Calvary. To attain that love, Blessed Apostle Saint Peter tells us, one must be spiritually reborn through Baptism: "Now that your obedience to charity has purified your souls for a brotherly love that is sincere, love one another heartily and intensely. For you have been reborn, not from corruptible seed but from incorruptible, through the word of God who lives and abides forever" ( 1 Peter 1:22-23 ). The corruptible seed is the seed of Adam, unregenerate human beings who are not reborn through water and the Holy Ghost ( Blessed Apostle Saint John 3:5-6 ).
We must ask, then, what hope these poor human beings "of every language, religion and culture" can have of acquiring this love if they do not even know the source of love - Jesus Christ, the King of Love? While they remain in the darkness of unbelief are they going to be capable of the supernatural love? In particular, if they have already refused to accept Jesus Christ as Messiah and Savior, will they be capable of the love "that conquers all"? The unbelievers, the unbaptized, are not born of the Spirit. They need the truth of the Gospel, not a message of earthly happiness that fades and dies like the grasses of the field.
The New World Order we hear about is actually the City of Man, the devil's stronghold, which is crumbling to dust and passing away. The true "new world order" was established by Jesus Christ at the Last Supper when He gave His Apostles the Chalice of His Blood, saying, "THIS IS THE CUP OF MY BLOOD OF THE NEW AND ETERNAL COVENANT, THE MYSTERY OF FAITH, WHICH SHALL BE SHED FOR YOU AND FOR MANY UNTO THE FORGIVENESS OF SINS." ( "HIC EST ENIM CALIX SANGUINIS MEI. NOVI ET AETERNI TESTAMENTI: MYSTERIUM FIDEI: QUI PRO VOBIS ET PRO MULTIS EFFUNDETUR IN REMISSIONEM PECCATORUM" ) The true "civilization of love" is the New Covenant, outside of which there is only disorder, the chaos which is the fruit of Original Sin.
Blessed Apostle Saint Paul speaks clearly of God's New World Order through the restoration of all things in Jesus : "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ
In Him we have redemption through His blood, the remission of sins, according to the riches of His grace. This grace has abounded beyond measure in us in all wisdom and prudence, so that He may make known to us the mystery of His will according to His good pleasure. And this His good pleasure He purposed in Him to be dispensed in the fullness of the times: to re-establish all things in Christ, both those in the Heavens and those on the earth" (Ephesians 1:3; 7-10 ).
"If any man is in Jesus Christ," says Blessed Apostle Saint Paul, "he is a new creature: the former things have passed away; behold, they are made new!" (2 Corinthians 5:17 )
Our Blessed Savior Himself assures us: "Behold, I make all things new!" ( Apocalypse 21:5 ).
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost. Amen.
