Egypt is a very significant player in the drama that is the End times scenario according to the prophets of the Bible. Egypt has recently been in the forefront of the world news as a result of the popular overthrow of the thirty year Mubarak government. Many around the world have high hopes for Egypt, believing that good can come out of the Egyptian revolution.
The scriptures tell us that Egypt indeed does have a bright future, but not as an outcome of a democratic revolution. The revolution that toppled Mubarak is already disintegrating into an open Muslim persecution against Coptic Christians, and calls for Israel to be annihilated in the name of Islam.
Egypt is going to suffer a harsh night of tribulation before the breaking of the dawn, according to Isaiah and Ezekiel,
In that day shall Egypt be like unto women: and it shall be afraid and fear because of the shaking of the hand of the LORD of hosts, which he shaketh over it.And the land of Judah shall be a terror unto Egypt, every one that maketh mention thereof shall be afraid in himself, because of the counsel of the LORD of hosts, which he hath determined against it.(Isaiah 19:16-17)
Egypt has been seized by a mortal fear, particularly of the Jews, and God himself is in that fear. Keep in mind that Egypt was a leading participant in four major modern wars with the state of Israel, and enjoyed the advantage of superior numbers, firepower, transport and supplies, yet in each war Egypt was defeated. Of course Israel alone didnt defeat Egypt, the God of Israel did!
Egypt is like a woman in fear. This is a nation which through her own press thrives on bizarre conspiracy theories , blaming every problem , shortcoming, or any other evil, on the Jews, (backed by the CIA of course!). The wicked flee when no one pursues them, but the Righteous are bold as a lion(Proverbs 28:1)
Recently during the Egyptian observance of religious month of Ramadan, a television series was shown on state TV which featured the ancient Jewish blood libel, portraying Jews as stealing Arab children to drain them of their blood to make Matza bread. These people are afraid.
Muslim Egypt is an unrelenting enemy of Christianity and of Israel. Within days after therevolution which toppled the Mubarak regime, video was released of the Egyptian army attacking an unarmed Coptic Monastery, shooting people, and pushing over the walls and gates of the monastery with Armored personnel carriers. Frantic Monks could be heard singing Kyrie Eliason in the background.
This is nation which gave the world the Muslim Brotherhood, the grandfather of the modern, murderous Jihad. Al Azhar university is in Cairo, the Harvard and Cambridge of radical Sunni Islam, the justifier of terror, the intellectual engine of the Muslim hate campaign against the west.
The real Egypt is not seen in the young western educated twenty somethings waving cell phones and using Facebook to organize peace rallies. Rather it was seen in the rabid mob who savagely assaulted western journalists, and used the mob occasion to ravish women on the street in shocking depravity.
This from Slate Magazine, A 2008 study found 83 percent of Egyptian women said they had been sexually harassed, while 62 percent of men admitted to harassing women; 53 percent of men blamed women for bringing it on themselves. A shocking 97 percent of female foreign visitors to Egypt reported some level of sexual harassment.
Egypt has a time of reckoning coming before she can be healed. But Egypt will eventually be healed,
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will bring a sword upon thee, and cut off man and beast out of thee. And the land of Egypt shall be desolate and waste; and they shall know that I am the LORD: because he hath said, The river is mine, and I have made it.Behold, therefore I am against thee, and against thy rivers, and I will make the land of Egypt utterly waste and desolate, from the tower of Syene even unto the border of Ethiopia.(Ezekiel 29:8-10)
Something is going to happen in Egypt that is so awful, Egyptians will have to flee their own land and live as refugees . The land will be rendered uninhabitable for forty years!
No foot of man shall pass through it, nor foot of beast shall pass through it, neither shall it be inhabited forty years. And I will make the land of Egypt desolate in the midst of the countries that are desolate, and her cities among the cities that are laid waste shall be desolate forty years: and I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations, and will disperse them through the countries.(Ezekiel 29:11-12)
But Egypt in the end comes back, for they turn to the living God, and drop Islam. Eventually they will make peace with Israel, and after some time, (probably during the millennium), they come back to their own land.
Yet thus saith the Lord GOD; At the end of forty years will I gather the Egyptians from the people whither they were scattered:kingdom.(Ezekiel 29:13)
So the LORD will make himself known to the Egyptians, and in that day they will acknowledge the LORD. They will worship with sacrifices and grain offerings; they will make vows to the LORD and keep them. The LORD will strike Egypt with a plague; he will strike them and heal them. They will turn to the LORD, and he will respond to their pleas and heal them.(Isaiah 19:21-22)
In the millenium, Egypt is directly addressed by the Lord Himself. He warns her to make sure she is in attendance at the Feast of Tabernacles, lest he withhold rain from her.
Then the survivors from all the nations that have attacked Jerusalem will go up year after year to worship the King, the LORD Almighty, and to celebrate the Festival of Tabernacles. If any of the peoples of the earth do not go up to Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD Almighty, they will have no rain. If the Egyptian people do not go up and take part, they will have no rain..(Zechariah 14:16-18)
Thank you for this!
The Nile used to flow across the Sahara to the Atlantic.
The ancient riverbed is still there.
Just sayin’...
The idea you can use scripture as a divination device is blasphemous.
didn’t know that, interesting! Thanks
As an agnostic, how concerned should I be?
Yeah, wouldn’t it just be tooooo bad if someone cut a trench from the impound behind the Aswan High Dam to the old channel?
What do you think of the rest of Isaiah 19
It ends with “verse 25 The LORD Almighty will bless them, saying, Blessed be Egypt my people, Assyria my handiwork, and Israel my inheritance.
Evidently it gets real bad, then Egypt turns toward God?
My oldest brother and his wife are going to spend two weeks in Egypt in March. I strongly advised against the trip. To no avail.
I hope they wise-up or survive (or both)
I told him it was very unstable. He’s a retired Dr. and has volunteered medical work around the world and has had a few close calls and I told him his odds are not getting any better.
How much can he love a woman he would subject to a sharia mad country?
I know what you’re saying. We’re (some of my brothers and me) going to confront them both and lay it on the line. Egypt, the Muslim Brotherhood, etc, is much different than South America and they will understand when we’re through with them.
A shocking 97 percent of female foreign visitors to Egypt reported some level of sexual harassment.
97%. The wifey will like that, I'm sure...
Toward the end of the article, Isaiah 19:21 & 22 are quoted. By stopping at that point, the happiest part of the prophecy is omitted. Verses 23 through 25 give an insight into the sweet relationship Egypt will have with the Lord, along with Assyria, and of course, Israel.
Isaiah 19:23 In that day shall there be a highway out of Egypt to Assyria, and the Assyrian shall come into Egypt, and the Egyptian into Assyria, and the Egyptians shall serve with the Assyrians.
Isaiah 19:24 In that day shall Israel be the third with Egypt and with Assyria, even a blessing in the midst of the land:
Isaiah 19:25 Whom the LORD of hosts shall bless, saying, Blessed be Egypt my people, and Assyria the work of my hands, and Israel mine inheritance.
Should have told them to go to Israel instead.
Nice in Disneyland right now. No armed Moehammads shooting you in front of the pyramids.
Amen! I long for the day!
I agree, Although I did report on Egypt’s repentance, and turning to the true God, the omission of Isaiah 25 was an unfortunate error, .Thanks
