Not really, we can assume that people going to church regularly are just naturally going to be a little more conservative than people who don’t on average, some of that would be mere nature, but for Catholics, that group of devout Catholics are not exactly what the media would label right wing, or ultra conservative.

Even devout Catholics seem to be pretty moderate.

Because they are more religious and their religious beliefs influence them to become more conservative. That is exactly what happens with Catholics.
