I meant as a symbol. For the secularists, Moslems etc. this is not a Lutheran LCMS pastoresses, but a Christian priestess. I as a Catholic and you as a traditional, conservative Lutheran are clubbed in with this lesbian abomination...

"Why not use a mainstream Catholic quote?"

Mary is so overplayed everywhere we look in Catholoicism that the believers in Christ, alone, don't really notice a difference, irrespective of who is writing. Give us an "official" site which does not produce equally heretical results. Everywhere there is statuary of Mary (bowed to when folks enter a "temple"), Hail Marys (as penance for payment of sin assigned by a guy in a bathrobe?), articles about her "co-redemptrix" role (written by RCC teachers), etc. Surely you do not think that this stuff is "fringe"?

If anyone is taking a liberal approach to this matter it is you, my FRiend. The mainstream Catholics adore, revere, pray to, venerate, and yes worship, Mary. You claim we believers in Christ are taking this all too seriously? Please.

"We interpret this as giving Mary to all of us as a spiritual mother, because we figure she cares and prays for all Christians even though she is in heaven, just as we mothers pray for our children and grandchildren, and I’m sure my earthly mother is in heaven and is praying for me."

This is indicative of the horrendous hermeneutic employed by Rome. Such interpretive license allows for the text to mean anything, anything at all. And, that is precisely how all of the elaborate, but sadly errant, doctrines of the RCC came into being.

Yes, reading the Bible is the idea. If Rome did so, using the ordinary understanding of the Scriptural words, it would abandon its own bizarre culthood.
