There is always time for prayers raised in earnest for a child, especially one so young who doesn’t understand what he is going through. Lord, let this little boy know Your calm and feel Your loving arms wrapped around him and may You grant this child Your infinite mercy. Praying for strength and courage for the parents and friends who love him. Amen.

Prayers. They are going to need them. I've seen a child fight neuroblastoma to their death firsthand. It is without question the most horrific thing you can watch. Especially since many times the child really does not understand what is going on. All they know is that they hurt and the treatment hurts more.

We sometimes have threads around here about football players, or Marines or some other group where we have very tough people we speak of. I have seen children meet or exceed the bravery and toughness of any of the above.

I pray that this child has as much happiness as possible as they fight something so evil and horrible.

I had never heard of neuroblastoma, so looked it up to see what Tanner and his family are facing. The prognosis is a bit more optimistic than its description. Given Tanner’s young age, we will pray that the tumor goes away on its own.

“Expectations (prognosis)

“The outcome varies. In very young children with neuroblastoma, the tumor may go away on its own, without any treatment. Or, the tissues of the tumor may mature and develop into a non-cancerous (benign) tumor called a ganglioneuroma, which can be surgically removed. In other cases, the tumor spreads quickly.”
