Do You Believe Us Now, America? (First, They Took Away the Right to Life. Now Comes Liberty)

The pro-life movement has long argued the inextricable link between the right to life and the other two rights affirmed in our Declaration of Independence.  There is a reason, we have argued, the Founding Fathers intentionally wed “life” to “liberty” and “the pursuit of happiness.”

The “unalienable rights” of the Declaration are derived from our being “created equal” by a “Creator” who “endowed” us with “certain unalienable rights.” Without the first of these rights, there is no basis for the second and third.  Our liberty as Americans is based upon our identity as human persons.  We have been given liberty because we have been given life.

Everyone from the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops and other religious leaders to USA Today  recognizes that the contraceptive mandates handed down by the Obama administration represent a clear and present danger to liberty—religious or otherwise.  As the Wall Street Journal reported:

The decision has roused the Catholic bishops from their health-care naiveté, but they've been joined by people of all faiths and even no faith, as it becomes clear that their own deepest moral beliefs may be thrown over eventually…

Mr. Obama's allies among Catholic liberals are also professing shock—even the Catholic Health Association's Sister Carol Keehan, who lobbied for ObamaCare, and Notre Dame's Father John Jenkins, who invited Mr. Obama to speak on campus in 2009…

Amid the turmoil of the HHS contraceptive mandate controversy, Americans should not miss out on this profoundly teachable moment—and respond accordingly.  The lesson is that he or she who denies the right to life will eventually seek to deny the right to liberty as well.

The pro-life movement has been sounding this alarm for years.  Unfortunately, we now have undeniable evidence that we are right.

Do you believe us now, America?

Obama MUST be defeated this November. Four more years of his frontal attacks on life and liberty and we will be unrecognizable.

Freedom of religion has become freedom from religion. In like manner, freedom of speech has become freedom from offensive or harmful speech.

We should pray that many more will submit such lawsuits.

“I tell those who seek to be the Herods’ of these days that you have waged a battle between God and man and you do not realize who your thoughts and actions are being dictated by.

Woe to those who seek to wage this battle and call upon the hand of justice at a time they should be heeding to My mercy. I say to those who seek to take life away by authoring laws to do so, how many souls do you desire to be accountable for?”

On another thread today, Justice Ginsberg is quoted as having stated:

"Things might have turned out differently if the Court had been more restrained."

Oh, yes, Justice Ginsberg, "things might have turned out differently."

Millions of souls, endowed by their Creator with life, and placed within little bodies individually designed by Him, would have been allowed their rights to that life, and the liberty to pursue happiness, according to their inherent and individual gifts and talents.

"The God who gave us life, gave us liberty at the same time: the hand of force may destroy, but cannot disjoin them." - Thomas Jefferson

Perhaps some of those millions, had they been allowed their Creator-endowed rights, might have led America well into the 21st Century as a free Republic, based on the Founders' ideas of liberty.

Others might have written great symphonies, discovered cures for the ills of others, or taught the ideas that would help to bring freedom and opportunity to oppressed people all over the world, or served on our Supreme Court and interpreted the Constitution in accordance with its original protections for "the People's" liberty.

But, then, we will never know, will we?

Justice Ginsberg, on a recent trip to Egypt stated: "I would not look to the U.S. Constitution, if I were drafting a constitution in the year 2012." Ginsburg instead pointed to countries whose people look to government - rather than the Almighty - as the creator of their rights. Read More .

That tells us everything we need to know about this Supreme Court justice.

It is not just Obama - it is the whole Democratic party that has turned into the Party of Death. How anyone could vote for a Democrat is just beyond my understanding.
