To be accurate, a lot of these examples are not from radical Islamists, but from radical leftists. Leftists of the Nasserite, Baathist (Arab Nazism), or Communist variety. We seem to forget that these groups from the 70’s and 80’s were armed and backed by the USSR with close ties to such European terrorists such as the Red Brigades, Baader Meinhoff, and the IRA.
