Sal, I get where you are coming from and I am NOT trying to nitpick or start a fight. Douay-Rheims Bible And he knew her not till she brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS. Matthew 1:25 This verse used to get me in trouble in Catholic school religion classes as a kid. As and adult, I learned that the perpetual virginity of marriage was affirmed by the 4th century (ἀειπαρθένος) and rose about the same time as the concept of celibate marriages in the church. The Greek word for "know" is ἐγίνωσκεν and is used in various forms from the root to refer to sexual intercourse. For Protestants, it doesn't matter. For Catholics, I know and understand that is a major doctrine, yet I don't really understand why even after all these years studying Catholic church history professionally.

You aren’t nit-picking. It seems you know a lot more about this than me. Or else I just leaven it plain old school-girl language. LOL!
Bless you!

So have you studied the typology between the Old and New Testaments as I mentioned. I took a class with a Baptist preacher, turned Catholic, who was really into the typology.
Oh, my!
