CCHD is notoriously liberal. But they don't tell the bishops what to do, and USCCB doesn't tell the bishops what to do, either (it's supposed to be the other way around).

All of the defeatist garbage ("the bishops are going to cave anyway") around here really does nobody any good. You think it's already a lost cause? Trust me, Ave Maria and EWTN aren't dropping their lawsuits, no matter what "accommodation" the USCCB thinks it can arrange. And it only takes one lawsuit in federal court to kill this thing off.

There's no room for "caving" anyway on some of this stuff. Catholics can't be in the business of financing abortion and sterilization, period, end of story.
