What do Scott McCreery, Kriss Allen, Jordin Sparks and Ruben Studdard have in common? All are past or present Christian musical artists. And all are past winners of “American Idol.”
That’s why is doesn’t make sense that the producers of the popular FOX television show, now in its 12 season, have warned Colton Dixon, one of this year’s “Idol” finalists, that he needs to keep his devout Christian faith on the down low.
“When we first started the Twitter and Facebook stuff,”Colton told Today.com, “they said beware of political or religious tweets. Just because it can turn off voters or whatever.”
In fact, ixonhas encountered some haters on Twitter. Like the twit who tweeted that the 20-year-old Christian rocker from Mufreesboro,Tenn. “can’t Tebow his way to a win.”
But the anti-Christian element obviously makes up a decided minority of the “Idol” voting audience. Otherwise, it is unlikely such overtly Christian “Idol” contestants as McCreery, Allen, Sparks and Studdard would have been crowned winners of their respective seasons.
Whatever the case may be, Dixon refuses to hide his devotion to Christ, no matter the warning of “Idol” producers.
He continues to pray before every performance on the show. And that includes his recent, memorable performance of White Lion’s “Broken Heart,” during which he wore a bracelet quoting Jeremiah 29:11 (“I know the plans I have for you… to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future”).
“Being a Christian is who I am,” saidDixon. “It is part of me musically. It is what I want to do after the show – go into Christian music.”
It remains to be seen how the promising young musical artist finishes among “Idol’s” 10 remaining finalists. But by standing up for his faith, he’s already proven himself a winner.
Let the heathens scream all they want. If they think it’s bad now, wait til the end.
I hope he wears his love of the Lord like a badge of honor and never puts it in his pocket to hide it.

A high percentage of Idol finalists over the years have got their start singing in church. A fair number have been worship leaders or choir members.
And they do well in the competition because a lot of Idol’s audience are like them.
Idol needs to be careful to not misunderstand who their audience is if they don’t want to be Dixie Chick’d into history. Misunderstand who your audience is, you may wake up to find you have no audience.
Will the so-called "progressives" who attempt to silence them, in the name of "political correctness," arouse such indignation in the hearts of a formerly free people that "the People" will use the technology available to them to study the ideas which motivated the men and women of America's founding period to create such a clear statement of understanding of the Source of life, rights, liberty and law?
If so, perhaps we may be able to influence and guide new generations into what Jefferson, in his First Inaugural, called "the only road that leads to peace, liberty and safety."

Unless today's citizens rediscover the ideas of liberty existing in what Jefferson called "the American mind" of 1776, we risk going back to the "Old World" ideas which preceded the "Miracle of America."
There are those who call themselves "progressives," when, in fact, their ideas are regressive and enslaving, and as old as the history of civilization.
Would suggest to any who wish an authentic history of the ideas underlying American's founding a visit to this web site, at which Richard Frothingham's outstanding 1872 "History of the Rise of the Republic of the United States" can be read on line.
This 600+-page history traces the ideas which gave birth to the American founding. Throughout, Richard Frothingham, the historian, develops the idea that it is "the Christian idea of man" which allowed the philosophy underlying the Declaration of Independence and Constitution to become a reality--an idea which recognizes the individual and the Source of his/her "Creator"-endowed life, liberty and law.
Is there any wonder that the enemies of freedom, the so-called "progressives," do not promote such authentic histories of America? Their philosophy puts something called "the state," or "global interests" as being superior to individuals and requires a political elitist group to decide what role individuals are to play, what they are allowed to declare publicly, and what words or performances are "appropriate."
In other words, they must turn the Founders' ideas upside-down in order to achieve a common mediocrity for individuals and power for themselves.

Here’s a video of Steven Tyler singing “Lean On Me.” I think he was in rehab at this time -he’s unkempt, and disheveled. However, that voice is still very strong. God surely blessed him with that.
My point is - in the music world it seems that you become an icon if you have lived a wild life. In fact, a lot of them win all kinds of awards and are forever held up as role models - never mind the kind of life they have lived or how they have destroyed themselves through drink and drugs.
Tyler is clean now and I believe he finds it difficult to be negative toward the kids on the show. He does seem to have a good heart.

Does anyone see the irony that all these Christians are performing to be known as an “American Idol”??
If you deny me in front of people, I will deny you in front of my Father -— yes, I know I’m paraphrasing — but it fits.
He should make as much noise in every form of media that he can about this. No American should ever be told to keep quiet about his/her religious beliefs, not matter what they may be.
The word has different meanings in and out of ecclesiastical contexts, so there is no actual irony here at all.
