Sobbing Chavez Pleads for Life at Catholic Mass in Home State
San Francisco Chronicle ^ | April 6 | Corina Pons and Jose Orozco

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez wiped tears from his face as he pleaded for life in his fight against an undisclosed cancer at a Catholic mass in his home state of Barinas.

... "If this was necessary, may it be welcome," Chavez said, who wore a white T-shirt under a blue and white track suit. "But I ask God to give me life, however painful. I can carry 100 crosses, your crown of thorns, but don't take me yet. I still have things to do."

Praise the LORD!

Amen, sisters and brothers!

I led a despicable life before I found the Lord.

And nothing I have to do is as important as God’s will for me.

His purposes will be accomplished; with us or without us; because of us or in spite of us; we get to choose in which quadrant within those coordinates we want to be.

AMEN!

May we all be reminded of this truth, especially on this "Good Friday", which is only "good" because our Lord IS Good.

It is certainly NOT our "goodness" that can save us; it is only God's. And that is why on this Holy day the Son of God went to the cross, and there took upon Himself the "sins of the world", pouring out His life-blood as Atonement for those sins, so "that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish but have life everlasting."

May God send His Holy Spirit into the heart and mind of Hugo Chavez--and make of him the "new creation" only this Spirit-given "birth from above" can accomplish!

Stalinist’s know God?
If I were a religious man I’d say peace on his soul, but I wish he and his Komrades across our earth a nasty death at the heels of freedom and liberty.

“May God grant him a repentant heart that he may find peace and joy in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, especially as we celebrate Jesus’ atonement for our sins this week.”

Amen. Worse have been redeemed.

“Hugo must be smelling a whiff of sulphur.”

Yep. But if he is going to turn to Christ he needs to turn from Lenin.

I read the whole article. It sounds terminal.

Hey Hugo, You infected your country with the Communist cancer. You get to realize what it is like to have your body destroyed by cancer itself.

C.S. Lewis said it: "There will be surprises." Read his short novel The Great Divorce, where some very sinful individuals (murderer, slave of lust, 'modern' artist) get into Heaven before some other folks who think they are entitled.

"Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy."

Heartfelt prayers for his soul.

Only two types of people ever idolize Che. First is the ignorant (they can be excused for their stupidity) and the other is a person of pure evil.

Hugo, what one are you?

-- The “work that I(he) needs to do”, is to undo what he has done.

Odds are he won't

Partial transcript of 1985 video interview of KGB defector Yuri Alexander Bezmenov....

"...now occupying the positions of power in the Government, civil service, business, mass media, educational system. You are stuck with them. You cannot get rid of them. They are contaminated, They are programmed to think and react to certain stimuli in a certain pattern. You cannot change their mind even if you expose them to authentic information, even if you prove that white is white and black is black you still cannot change the basic perception and illogical behavior. In other words, these people, the process of demoralization is complete and irreversible..."

Post #18 makes no sense. If he were Christian, would he be a murderer? If he were Christian, would he be a Communist? You will know them by their fruits?

The Church ignoring the behavior of it's sheep is one of the biggest problems in church today. The church in Corinth took pride in a member that was living in sin openly, but Paul told them to confront him with his sin and if he didn't repent, to abandon him. The Church being indifferent to its members is not doing them or the church any good. It is counter productive for a dictator to murder his people while praying to God. The church should call them on their sin. That isn't politics, that's Christian. By ignoring someone's sin, you allow them to twist the message of Christ. If you live in sin, you shouldn't be able to claim Christ. You haven't repented if you justify your sin as the will of God. The Catholic Church is chock full of people that vote for sodomites, baby killers, thieves, and murderers. If you don't like the teachings of the church, then be something else.

If the Church came out strong against these dictators, maybe they would become more Christ like.

"An Anglican priest once said that we are going to be surprised at some of the people we see in heaven."

If I am blessed enough to arrive there, I hope to see Christopher Hitchens. He had many TRUE friends (those who wished for his salvation) praying for him. God is merciful, and hears the prayers of true believers.

On the other hand, histrionics and crocodile tears aren't worth much at the judgment.
